Pinterest may be the death of me. Do an image search for "live edge slab projects" "floating shelves" Thin and thick slabs : My brother made a floating shelf system with 1" thick live edge boards (one side trimmed to fit flush to wall) for spices. I'll try to snap a pic of it the next time I'm over there.

$25 on B if I can get PMB to plane it for me
I got my eye on some old 1903 and M1 Garand stock from Sarco. Been wanting to make a shelf/rack for growing record collection. Just figured out what I want the material to be!

It would have to be trimmed to fit through my hobbyist/consumer grade planer. I just realized that I offered to skip plane it if desired by the new owner. Hmm. I can't skip plane it without trimming it, and that will affect one of the live edges over a portion of the board. Unless someone else speaks up quickly that they want the whole live edge, I'll trim it later today and run it through the planer.

Seems like you should wait until someone is a winner (I know the wood's moving north by Chris) before cutting off the live edge. If Kyle isn't the winner, the person who is might be pissed that the edge is gone. I've got a 12" planer if that helps (not sure how wide it is).
