Imagine what you could do with PMB`s wood.

Somebody remind the Dread Princess about this possibility.

In truth, she does come up with WAY too many ideas.
Pinterest may be the death of me.
Do an image search for
"live edge slab projects"
"floating shelves"

Thin and thick slabs :

My brother made a floating shelf system with 1" thick live edge boards (one side trimmed to fit flush to wall) for spices. I'll try to snap a pic of it the next time I'm over there.

$25 on B if I can get PMB to plane it for me

I got my eye on some old 1903 and M1 Garand stock from Sarco. Been wanting to make a shelf/rack for growing record collection. Just figured out what I want the material to be!

It would have to be trimmed to fit through my hobbyist/consumer grade planer. I just realized that I offered to skip plane it if desired by the new owner.
Hmm.
I can't skip plane it without trimming it, and that will affect one of the live edges over a portion of the board.
Unless someone else speaks up quickly that they want the whole live edge, I'll trim it later today and run it through the planer.

Is the cupping really an issue?

Seems like you should wait until someone is a winner (I know the wood's moving north by Chris) before cutting off the live edge. If Kyle isn't the winner, the person who is might be pissed that the edge is gone.

I've got a 12" planer if that helps (not sure how wide it is).

The Black Walnut has arrived. Thank you for the pre-photo donations!

H : I have placed a familiar size object to compare size. Weight is approximately 3 oz. Color is typical for Black Walnut, with a touch of the highly desirable purple.
Hopefully the photos give a decent idea of the size and coloration.

This piece is also included in H, hopefully someone can find some use for it.

Length about 9' overall.

Note the saw cuts on one side of the wide end:

The measurements of the thinner area are pictured:

The other side of this photo is where the saw thinning is located.

And here's the thinned side:

Smaller end one side:

And I didn't snap a pic of the tape sideways on the other side's small end:

The character of this board is all over the place... Wide and flat, but with the saw mark at that end, with square or nearly squared bark side (live edge) to steep angled live edge at the narrow end.

Oh, almost forgot Brian's Bewbies :
