Ok, call me weird, but I really do get a kick out of seeing someone diagnose, work on and fix something like that. I hate see so much stuff going into the landfill. Especially with so much built in obsolescence any more.
It's a slap in the face to the bean counters. And somehow, I don't know... It's somehow a victory better than winning some video or real life game. There's a real challenge. You sometimes have to almost reverse engineer something. I've even made whole parts for things out of scrap.
Besides, maybe the fix is as simple as replacing some switch. And if not, maybe he has some other use for the engine. You never know.
