On the start page it would be cool to have a place for members to post announcement about upcoming training opportunities coming to our area. Unlike those states that are still part of America, training opportunities in WA are scarce, and not well advertised. For instance, I happened across a training class in October with Tim Herron, a 3x grandmaster, that I didn’t even know about. I know Carry Trainer does a lot of classes and stuff too. But it would help members to know everything available to them for training.

Couple issues with this.

One there are means by which members can share upcoming events etc.

You are asking private businesses to share. Which they would happily do but not do any of the work. If you know what I mean. There’s no business benefit to advertise a competitors upcoming events.

It would take someone to look and research and post all of them up. As you can probably see not going to happen.

Unless you want to step up?

It’s a good idea on paper but your asking work to be done where this being a free site doesn’t really have the time/energy to place those efforts.

By all means members should be encouraged to share.

Lastly, training that is right for you ain’t what others may want or be ready to take. It’s good to know but not everyone will be interested.

Like I have no clue the names you dropped. But that says more about me than you. Lol

We have an events section that anybody can post in. If there is a mass influx of postings of a certain type, we can create a section for it, but it sucks having dedicated sections with 1 or 2 topics a month.

Some of the local places do come on and let us know when new training classes open up.

Some places have a LOT of training and classes offered, so, if you find a place you like, getting on their email blast is what most do, and would be really hard to constantly add on here.

You mentioned Tim…looks like he’ll be at The Firearms Academy in October.

They could come on here & post updates, but they don’t.

They haven’t been getting great reviews lately, though…

I'm in, but then I was given my own area to post training schedule etc.

Thanks for the input. I can see how the logistics of something like this would be tough. I was thinking more about the national trainers that maybe stop in once to twice per year. But I can see how upkeep would be tough. I guess I was trying to find a way to cheat the system, and find recommendations and/or opportunities for training without scrolling the interwebs. Thank you for the feedback.

Good concept, though.

For the national guys, like Tim, getting on their own e-mail list might be the best way to go.

I found that a little cumbersome, as you get all their emails weekly.

So…, I ended up just checking their websites every few months :ROFLMAO:
