I have this same thing happen occasionally. I asked about it a few times, couldn't come up with a solid reason. Nothing that I do or did was any different from all the times that it didn't act quirky, from what I could remember.
My guess is that a bunch of this is the board and our computers hiccuping out of synch.
I expect that things will shake out as Dan works his way through all the wreckage of The Great Crash of 2018.

So I dug into all the cookies, logins, everything I could find. On both my phone and PC. I cleared, cleaned and rebooted.

And still need to log-in about every third or forth time I click in from a link in the email. Very strange.

Quit clicking in from the email.

There is something about the 'properties' of the link that is causing that.

If you are coming in from email, because you just want to check out the one thread that the email was about, that's understandable.

But it's only a couple clicks more to come to WaGuns from a link in your browser, choose "view your posts", and then click on the thread in question. (It should be right near the top.)

Please make sure that you are using HTTPS in all of your links. I will go through and get the referrers all reset to where this shouldn't matter. This has been the root cause of this log-in issue.

Yeah, I forgot to mention that.

I come in, via my bookmarked link in my browser.

I was having problems for a bit, as well, until edited the link. I thought the real problem was the stuff at the end about the mobile or desktop.

But I DID notice it was http, and not https, and I changed that as well. All problems stopped there. Haven't had to log in, since.

Ok, that problem has been fixed. The old .htaccess file was in play. I added the proper entries and it should be good to go now.

Eventually, I'll go through all the notification templates and update the links in there to reflect the https url, but it really doesn't matter with the proper lines in the htaccess file.
