Can anyone help me? I keep trying to reply to questions about items I'm selling, but all of the (5 messages) are stuck in outbox purgatory. Any ideas what the issue is? Yes, my computer is plugged in...

They remain in the Outbox until the recipient opens them. They might actually read them if they're set up to receive new message notifications by e-mail, but the messages will still show up in your Outbox until they're marked as read through the forum software.

Ah, thanks for the responses! So, it sounds like the take away message is that if I see messages in my outbox, the recipients haven't read it yet. Please correct me if I interpreted that wrong. If I'm correct, then some people who shall remain nameless need to open my messages...I've got guns to buy and sell! Come on people!

That's correct ...

Remember...we ll lead different lives, so, not everyone is on here as frequently as you might be. Some travel for work, some work long hours, etc., ...

Sometimes, a buyer is looking at 4 or 5 things, so while you're focusing on your items for sale intently, they're just sending out feelers,r requests for more info...

Lastly, you can always click on their profile, and usually see when they last logged on...not everyone has thir PMs tied to their email, so they may not even know yet that there's a response...

There are folks on here from 17 to 85, and everyone handles PMs & the Internet differently...

There's even a guy that lives way up in Index, Wa, that has to wait for the Pony Express.... :wink05:

Patience, is a virtue....

Can't the site just force every user to have every pm sent to email?
Seems like a simple fix.
Wouldn't this solve the issue for most?

Not everyone is tech savvy to even know it's an option.
IE. The number of posters that can't figure out how to post a pic of their item for sale.

I hear ya that patience is a virtue but when I'm available to meet up is when I send a pm.
When I have cash in hand and time to drive is when I pm.

A reply days later is bad for both sellers and buyers.

I’ve seen multiple posts where people are asking if an item is even still for sale because the poster hasn’t logged back on in days or weeks.
Can’t we just prompt everyone with automatic email when you have a new pm?

I get one but unless I look at it on the forum, it will remain stuck in the outbox.

All PMs are sent via email notification. But that doesn’t mean it removes it from the site as well. All it is, is a notification that you have a PM. We include the message of the PM as a bonus, so the recipient can choose if they want to log on and respond or not.

Even though the PM email says, many times, DO NOT REPLY to the email, they still do.

But you will still have people that don't always check their email as frequently as you'd like.

Working a lot of OT, retired, out of town on business, or simply just forgot because life got busy.

The frustration is understandable, but the solutions aren't as obvious as they seem...

In this instant communication World we live in, some people expect an instant response anytime they ask a question or send some sort of message. :facepalm2:
People have lives and No, i don't want an e-mail communication for every PM received. I get enough spam from Steve, i don't need anymore.

The forum software doesn’t have the ability to disable that option for users.
