The USC football team was on their way to Wazzu to play the Cougars. When they landed in Lewiston Idaho. This happened with the team on board the plane. I worked for Boeing for 28 years in final assembly on the 737. The Max was just coming on board when I left. My question is how and why did this happen?

Longer airplanes like the 737-9 (which this is) can tip like that if they are not unloaded per the correct procedure -- basically, you need to leave weight up front. Don't let first-class off and empty the forward cargo hold first, y'know? :) There is a stick that can be put under the tail to prevent this.

The ramper literally runs with the 10’ long pole and prop the tail before they even open the cargo doors. So much for Boeing to reinvent the wheels on an airframe that still has parts from ww2 era. Thanks southwest:)

Load master for the cargo placed a decimal in the wrong place when he did the math. They put too much weight in the back, and that is going to be one hell of an ass chewing for that poor poor schlub.

But the aft cargo door is still closed? I bet they unloaded the forward cargo hold first. That was the mistake.

Rampers are all min wage, don’t really care or know much about weight and balance. When they work on a plane thet normally don’t see, shit like this happens. I am sure some speedtape at the tail and it will be good to go:)

”According to a school spokesperson, the incident occurred during the deplaning process and was the result of the grounds crew not putting the kickstand up. USC players had deplaned and only coaches and staff members were on board when the plane tipped. Nobody was hurt as a result of the incident and all remaining passengers were able to leave the plane once it was leveled out, the spokesperson said.

Either you dropped it and entered the Five and Dime store or just dropped the bike running inside to spend the money you got from bucking hay bales... Maybe the ground crew on the ground had a bar time they needed to meet?
