I don't under why people find these social media platforms so addicting, and how advertising your private life on the web is entertainment for so many. I've never signed up for these social media platforms, with the only exception of LinkedIn and that was only because I have to as part of my employment. No I don't work for them but my employer required all of us to setup a profile with a professional photo (employer paid for a professional photo team to take pics of all) when I joined them, that was 7 years ago and I've never updated it once since then.

When I was looking for a job and interviewed by security of the firm, they HIGHLY recommended not to be on LinkedIn, much less the other platforms, due to the mining of information by bad actors. Have you had people pretend to know you based on personal information you posted online? Especially intimate details?

Also invaluable who you know, your network. Who are the people you connect to.

Finally, they can build a profile of your "likes" and based on your preferences, determine quite a profile on you. Social media does this, and it's either 10 or 20 likes, and they claim to know you better than your spouse. Amazon also.
