Beto O'Rourke just showed up at the news conference, used it as a political anti-gun platform from the audience, and caused a civil disturbance. He was escorted out. What a POS!!! https://www.nbcnews.com/video/beto-o-rourke-confronts-gov-abbott-over-texas-elementary-school-shooting-140809285835

I think the Texas LEO describing the incident right now was really reckless in naming the brand of the AR15. I feel bad for Daniel Defense now. Be prepared to see left wing politicians filing a mass of lawsuits against them. They will be wrongfully holding them responsible.

Those rifles aren't cheap, especially with an eotech

Blaiming the tool is what the simple minded have always done because it is easy and requires no work. We live in an era where to many people do not want to work and want a quick fix. Many people failed in relation to preventing this incident and they will all pass the buck from the mental health workers that had contact with this kid and yes those that had a hand in squirting him out to the administration at the school and the flunkie that did the schools security plan.
How many of these shootings have to happen before the sheep stop having such soft targets available? I saw a little snippet about him being engaged by three officers before the special unit was called in. Why could the three officers not have delt with him on first contact. Did they not have the proper equipment and training and if not why not?

You had to make a descision...run forever or stand up for yourself and maybe get an ass whipping. Soooo Stupid I agree that its an excuse, I have stated before that I grew up in the rebellious crowd before it was trendy. In high school all the metal heads and punk rockers hung out in one area, jocks and others in other spots. The interesting thing here is all the "in" people at school would not hang out with us in school but on weekends they were at our backyard parties watching our bands and drinking the booze. School staff considered us all losers. We did not turn out bad, it was cool and fun to be seen as dark and rebellious. It added intrigue and flavor. More often it was the supposedly "clean" and straight A kids that were really bad and using the drugs. All those times, playing with the phony Necronomicon and doing other stupid things. Being rebellious is not genuine and its not fun anymore. Now they wear dark clothes and kill masses of people. Sadly we now have parents who don't give a rat about their kids or they are raising mentally deranged and confused weaklings which left-wing politicians and political groups are also directly responsible for.

My sister was disabled, so I had a target on my back. It was constant. Shit people would call our house. Makes you strong in a way.

Fishinpnw wrote: Maybe the question is how do we keep guns away from people that have mental health issues that can escalate into these kinds of actions? There is so much speculation out there right now, but I read that he purchased these firearms legally when he turned 18. Maybe nothing can be done without infringing on 2A.
This one really hit hard for alot of people. Unless you grew up around gun culture (I certainly didn't. I shot a few guns as kid, but certainly wasn't exposed to firearms in the way many of you were. I didn't get into firearms until a buddy of mine bought a gun range back in the day and started taking a few of us in to shoot), you will have zero emotional connection to guns or have any tangible notion on how they may be a way to really protect yourself from harm, whether it's a home invasion or a tyrannical government. I can understand that for many people, the thought of getting rid of (legal) guns in this country is a normal knee-jerk reaction to something horrible like this.
I don't think there will ever be enough of a political shift in this country to actually repeal the second amendment, but if things keep up the way they are, there is a good chance there will be some kind of reform (probably at the state level) to make the process of purchasing a gun more and more arduous and difficult. If an individual is this dangerous, the problem isn't 'access to guns'. It's the dangerous individual. A nut in Nice, France killed 84 people with a rented truck. Dangerous people don't need to be left running around loose in society to find an opportunity to end the lives of other people. I used to think that bringing back state mental institutions would help, but the "progressives" have normalized mental illness into lifestyle choices.

If you don’t want your kids bullied, teach them how to fight. If you can afford it, send them to a good martial arts school. But make sure you pick a martial art that works on the street. Look at Wrestling, boxing, bjj, and Muay Thai. And you must have time in the ring. Hitting pads is a good start, but it’s not enough. Figure on three years of training, 3-4 times a week, to acquire the necessary skill and muscle memory to handle almost every situation.
For god’s sake. DO NOT choose tai Kwon do. That’s more of a tournament martial art. It doesn’t translate well to the street.
