Mine went up 50%... but I increased my house by 50% with the addition, so I guess that makes sense

When I had contractors insurance and financed my bond I had the lowest rate my insurance guy had ever seen. It was based on my personal credit, even though the insurance and bond were for my company. I think the most I ever paid for a $12,000 bond was $180 for the year. Most companies were paying around 4-500 for the same bond

Ryan just sent the renewal for my bond: $120.00 :thumbsup2:

Nice!

It fluctuated for me around 100-180. Seemed like when siding issues in general started popping up the companies got nervous and raised rates

I used to always go down to his office and pay in person. It's not like we needed to go over anything but I felt like we should at least sit and chat for a bit before I handed over some thousand dollars for insurance and bond

Haha . . . douchebag got his ass handed to him in court!

Yes and YES!

Douchebag Democrat wants to protect consumers by raising insurance rates. Sweet.

Yep, more cronyism.

So, instead of finding ways to help those with bad credit, improve it, and get better rates, he gets in bed with the industry, and gives them cover to increase rates for all.

How does that help those with bad credit?

More of the progressive ideal.

Bring everyone down to the lowest level.

By the time the ignorant realize it’s communism & object, it will be too late.

So I got my annual love letter from my lender telling me my mortgage payments were going up again, and I starting looking at all the expenses to try and determine where the increase was. To my surprise, my home owner's insurance actually went down from the previous year. My home owner's insurance and property taxes are paid from an escrow account that is funded by my mortgage payments- I only mention that because others may do it differently, Anyway. I looked at the previous year and saw that my insurance had jumped $500. The insurance company noted that the increase was due to the fact that the washington state insurance commissioner had banned insurance companies from using credit scores to determine your premium. This was later overturned by a thurston county judge, but it was in effect long enough to cost me $500 for nothing. So I'm glad it was overturned, but I'm still pretty unhappy about the fact that this stupid overreach on the part of Mike Kreidler cost me.

For anyone who wants to comment, how do you feel about the use of credit score in the determination of insurance premiums, etc? I can certainly see instances where a person, despite trying their hardest to be responsible, could end up having their credit score trashed by an ex, or unexpected expenses etc.

Thoughts?

I‘d shop around for another insurance co.

My premium is based on "cost to replace".

My "lack of debt" notwithstanding.

It's a bit surprising to me that you're just now seeing an increase from this, since it happened so long ago.

Actually, Steve, he's seeing the reduction now. He saw the increase last year.

Reading is fundamental! :gibbs:

Thanks for merging me. I am very late to this party, apparently. I have been much closer attention to where every penny goes in the last year, as I get closer and closer to retirement, so I actually didn't noticed the big jump in 2021, or I assumed it was due to the assessed value of the property going up.

None of my insurance has really ever gone down

I mean sure it went down a bit whenever we kicked a kid off but that’s not really a premium rate reduction
