forddieselperformanceparts.com/news/7-3l-cam-position-sensor/ Uhm..... There's way too much info to type out, way too much... Go to Ford and buy the grey one. Go to International and buy the black one. If you haven't had the recall done, there was one quite a few years ago, you'll more than likely have a early black Ford OEM, not to be confused with the International black one, if you have the grey one in there the recall has been done. Now.....if you have a failure, replace with the grey one. "IF" that doesn't get it running top notch, put in the international black CPS. The black CPS has different dimensions, believe it or not, and I've seen a healthy handful were the updated grey CPS would no longer work, but the international black unit would. This is after the rig has been running a grey CPS for many miles and a new grey CPS would work but not get signal 100% of the time, sliding the International in netted positive results. Do not use the blue CPS, and don't fall for the cps's that advertise advancing timing for more HP with whatever shit they're trying to sell. When you say "Go to International" what does that mean? Brick and mortar store? IH? Also, if the dealership replaced it during recall, will it be grey>? I doubt Dad would remember the recall.

If it was replaced during recall, it will be grey.

I also have a superchips tuner available for that truck. Will help with power and economy while towing. 70 bucks and it’s yours. It is currently on eBay but I can pull the auction if you are interested.

I'm good for now cylone. We'll see how it does pulling a 8,000 lb trailer home over 5 mountain passes first before I say the Chip word.

It's not exactly cheap, about $500, but a boat load of retirement money cheaper than a rblt trans an tow bill. Why Ford put an anemic cooler on a truck built for towing has always been a mystery....

Yep, I see some miles in that rig's future now that you're in the Age of Retirement.

Sted, looks like I have the grey one and the bracket looks unused (no dirt, like having been long Traveled.) Dad didn't remember if it was replaced when he had it serviced back then but they may have swapped it out during one of his trips to the dealer and they may have not told him. That's assuming it was a recall. Anyway I'll throw the spare in the glove box with the 10mm wrench as recommended above and call it good.

Sounds like you got it all taken care off. I had a small issue with mine a few days ago when there was fuel accumulating on the cap. No idea why. WIX has a real nice one piece filter and cap I installed last night. Huge upgrade in simplicity and seals next time you have to do a filter change.

Yep, if it's grey, it's the new and presumably improved and done under a Fed recall. Back before Ford/International got their pee pee slapped, those sensors were almost $200. You can get them today for around $30.
