Outstanding work. This really clarifies where we find ourselves, how we got here, and five possible end-games. All because America really has two Constitutions. Hillsdale newsletters are always good reads.

That's another of the thought processes I've heard; that we're currently IN the new civil war. Which, if that's the case...... The definition of war has softened an awful lot.

I'll chime in with my thoughts about it... I agree that a person or group can't just expect to go guns blazing at the generic enemy. As it has been said, you'll just be shooting police and servicemen. The specific enemy can't be "the government" or "the Democrats". In today's world, it would have to be designated marksmen with fair weather who drive home the message over and over. Eventually no one will take the job if the turnover is high enough. I think that is very similar to how the founding fathers saw it as well.I mean, its all hypothetical, for a lot of important points about the modern technology have been pointed out that prevents guerilla tactics anyway. The other point still stands as well, any action will be pure gold for leftist propaganda. They are just waiting for anything they can latch on to.
As a mild historian and avid what-if'er, I love thinking about alternative history and what would happen if a war came to a head on home turf. Just thinking about how easy it was to change things when you just needed to rally a group and march. Modern civilization has made a change by force really impossible. But I'm reminded of a quote by Robert E. Howard, Civilized men are more discourteous than savages because they know they can be impolite without having their skulls split, as a general principle."

I’ve been thinking that in a strictly hypothetical situation here in the states, things would degenerate into sectarianism like what we see in Iraq, Syria and Libya. It would not be strict lines like we saw in the first civil war but would be much more convoluted and fragmented. Protests here and there with bursts of extreme violence, and a government just barely keeping things together, with chants of favoritism from both sides.

When they refuse to shoot unarmed civilians excersizing their constitutional right to assemble, he'll ask the White House for help. Potus could then have UN Peace keepers come in the restore peace, because those fuggers will have NO problem shooting American civilians. Shyte, they have no problem shooting civilians anywhere for that matter. They can be distracted with hookers and blow.

Once the shooting starts, we've all lost. A couple here have mentioned some scenarios, but at the start everyone imagines that they are going win. Read a good essay on France today that mostly talked about WWI and the 30 years war: https://pjmedia.com/spengler/france-has ... atriotism/Do you truly think that the Emperor, Kaiser, and Czar would have been so quick to start shooting if they'd known the outcome? Look at what happened with Timothy McVeigh who thought thousands would rally behind him (disclosure one of my co-workers at the time lost her son in the daycare). That one event pretty much killed the militia movement. Its one thing to yell and scream, its another to look at dead babies and realize that - that is your future. I'm certain that none of these numbnuts shutting down streets in Portland and throwing rocks would be there if they knew they were going to get gutted like a fish. As my father (Vietnam Vet) used to say, "its one thing to be mad, its a whole nother thing to go die in a muddy ditch. Especially when you got three hots and cot."

Let us pray that we and our countrymen will find a way to reason, And to compromise. allowing us to avoid the worse of these dire scenarios........." I don't think so.
