Duluth firehose pants are tough. I abuse the heck out of them and aside from grease and sap stains they are good as new 3 years in. I also occasionally use the built in kneepads but they really don't work very well.

Anyone have any experience with the TD Carlos Ray pants?

TD is currently having a BOGO 1/2 off:

I wear MyPoolPals. (MyPooPals?)

(I know... bad to make fun, especially since that may not be so far off for any of us)

UB tech travel pants. Union Bay lists them for $70 on their website. Costco sells them for $18.99 in the warehouse and $19.99 online. Love these pants. Nice enough for business casual but rugged enough for outdoor play.

Several styles of Carhart are good. Many different pocket configurations to choose from.

Kuhl RADIKL, do yourself a favor and go try a pair on. Rediculously comfortable.

I use these for work, pretty low profile as far as tactical pants go.

Low cost [check] $40/pair
Stretch fabric [check]
Wide belt loops [check]
No belt loops on side [check]
Wide pockets [check]
Low profile cargo pockets [check]
Not tacticool...uhhh? As close as you're going to get with all the features you want (esp cargo pockets).

Look at the different colors, the tan ones scream tactical, but the grey looks fairly normal and there are a lot of colors to go with.

I bought these based on this recommendation and I really like them. They shed water fairly well, fit perfect, reinforced in places and they are uber comfortable. Not too hot as it's not thick material but not so thin that they aren't durable. I ordered my normal size 32x32 for my 5'11" 165lbs frame .

All right, I succumbed to peer pressure. I bought a pair of the 5.11 jeans from MidwayUSA, liked them, and bought another pair in a different color.

They are really comfortable, with just the right amount of stretch. It's very comfy to carry with my IWB holster.

I haven't found a way to use the extra-deep coin pocket yet.

I don't normally carry an extra mag, but today I'm carrying one in the extra pocket back at 4:00 . . . and I don't even realize that it's there. (This is the 12-round P365 mag.) That is REALLY nice. The mag drops down so it won't be super-quick to pull out, but hey, at least it's a mag that I didn't have before this.

I like them. :thumbsup2:

All right, maybe I'm fat.

Let's be fair, there's no "maybe" about it . . . .

With my new COVID-19 work-from-home lifestyle, I've been spending a LOT of time in these 5.11 jeans, with both myself and the P365 stuffed in there. I kept noticing pain right on my front, near the button of the jeans, but didn't think to much about it. I'd loosen my belt a little, and that would kind of help . . . kind of.

I finally took a look at it yesterday. Here's a pic of the inside of the button on the jeans:

So what happens is that when fat boy pulls them together, the button does a hard "lean" to one side, and this is what happens on the inside:

Image

Which, of course, causes a sharp edge that rubs against my skin.

My first experiment was just to stick a small piece of painter's tape on the back side of the button. It wasn't in any way permanent but it actually helped a lot. Then I upgraded to a piece of self-adhesive felt (left over from making the seal around my smoker lid!), and that looks like this:

The felt actually works really well, and is staying put . . . for now, at least. It's doubtful that it would survive a trip through the washer, but I will probably stitch it (or something similar) in place.

Yeah, that area needs to be reinforced. I did notice that I had to move my belt buckle to the side just a little so the snap didn't cut into me.

Let me summarize what I think you said: "I'm fat, but I'm not as fat as you are."

I picked up a pair of the 5.11 jeans to try based on this thread. I’m a fan! I made sure to order them in my actual size instead of my dream size *Cough Madpick Cough* and find them really comfortable.

When I carry, I wear a longer Duluth Trading tank top tucked in, which helps prevent the holster rubbing on my skin.

I’ve also been liking the Duluth Trading Ballroom flex jeans. They’re also really comfortable and the pockets are huge for carrying my Walther PPS in my pocket. While the little extra side/back pockets on the 5.11 jeans are nice, I find that keeping a spare mag in a ReloadWrap in my back pocket works great.
