That's really sad. One of the worlds greatest drummers. Two years ago he announced he wasn't going to tour anymore due to the physical strain it put on him (tendonitis and arthritis). If he couldn't be at 100%, he wouldn't do it at all. Alex said then that the band was over because they wouldn't go on without him.

Legendary drummer Neil Peart of Rush has died of brain cancer on January 7, at the age of 67. The man not only could play the hell out of the drums, but he was also the primary lyricist for Rush.
Saw them in Minneapolis May7 1977 when most of you were still sucking on mama's boob. He was special, and his drum solo was the highlight of the concert.

Seriously, the 60s and 70s had THE BEST rock and roll bands. No other time in history comes close. I feel blessed to have lived in that era, and saw so many bands back then, for cheap!

80 or 81, think I was 17. Don't remember much of it, at least the last half, like the rest of the concerts I went to!

Sted, the concert I went to had Max Webster, Star Castle, Styx, then the finale, Rush. I almost had medics revicing me on the concert floor because outside in the parking lot before the "4 bands for $15" I smoked a joint with a guy passing one around, it had PCP in it. I spent most of the next 3 hrs sitting in the floor with my head between my legs haulluncinating. When Rush came out, I kinda rolled around and made it to my feet and I remember the drum solo the best.

I will have you know that I was conceived in 77....
Even though I'm a youngun' compared to many here, my brothers introduced me to Rush and I was hooked.
Natural science, analog kid, Resist, Counterparts, hemispheres etc. They had so many amazing songs and incredible style. I went to 6 or 7 concerts over the years.
Definitely my favorite band. They are the band that launched 1000 bands.
Rest in peace Neil.
