Or sailors that know how to read a meteorological report and act upon same. It all boils down to having folks aboard who have some smarts. All the data/information in the world is worthless if you don't have folks who know how to understand and apply same.

The last instances of destroyers being hit by cargo ships seemed to be:
Inadequate training
Dependence on electronics rather than seamanship
Incompetence all around.
