In February 1957, a new influenza A (H2N2) virus emerged in East Asia, triggering a pandemic (“Asian Flu”). This H2N2 virus was comprised of three different genes from an H2N2 virus that originated from an avian influenza A virus, including the H2 hemagglutinin and the N2 neuraminidase genes. It was first reported in Singapore in February 1957, Hong Kong in April 1957, and in coastal cities in the United States in summer 1957. The estimated number of deaths was 1.1 million worldwide and 116,000 in the United States. With a US population of 172 million then compared to 328 million today. The equivalent of 178,640 today. And life went on as normal.

Well. That’s rubbish because it doesn’t fit the narrative and less people make money.

My understanding is that there are certain populations you can’t give the drug to, like people with cardiac issues. They’ve also had some issues with dosages. Other than that, I’ve been told there’s no reason not to try it. Typical dose for rheumatoid arthritis is 300mg. Doctors online are saying 1st day 400mg, the 200mg, so most the issues are minimized.

Quinine fits neither agenda. new daddy wrote: Massivedesign wrote: Well. That’s rubbish because it doesn’t fit the narrative and less people make money. And you get 168mg from two liters of tonic water.

DHS Covid-19 meeting cancelled due to Covid-19. Phone conference instead.
Those never work right. Usually takes a half hour for them to get the feed working.

The virus and it's current and future mutations are here to stay. Virtually everyone will get it at some point. An effective, safe, and widely-available vaccine is at least 2+ years away. The best we can hope for short-term is to become better at treating it and helping those infected survive it. The economy must go on, so some precautions must remain in place. But the all-out lockdowns need to be largely lifted. The world will survive this just like it survived all previous pandemics. Let's not make it worse by completely tanking the global economy. But China must pay dearly for this.

When you see the large protests happening (like in CA last weekend) it negates any effect of a lockdown. We'll either see a big spike in about 21 days or we won't. There was a small spike in cases around 5/1, but they are actually doing less testing now - which tells me it isn't indicated. Hospital capacity - the real reason for the lockdown - has been pretty constant and well below capacity, at least in WA, and hospitals have started performing elective procedures with a full opening planned for 5/18 - (at least for the hospital I'm "involved" with). The business closures are now just a political issue.

The UW charts, ovid19.healthdata.org, have a few new categories they're tracking, one of which is testing. According to their numbers, WA is spiking on tests as of the 2nd, but they're projection line is basically straight. new daddy wrote: The business closures are now just a political issue. Case in point. There's a left-leaning, half-native hairdresser chick in B'ham that keeps making Facebook posts about how white people are terrible because they're demanded haircuts in the middle of what she considers the apocalypse.

I'm getting my data here: https://www.doh.wa.gov/emergencies/coronavirusHere's there daily reports since 4/30'. I have data prior to that, but pulled it from MyNorthwest. Date Total Tests Daily count 30-Apr: 198724 : 5462 1-May: 207315 : 8591 2-May: 212,005 ; 4690 3-May: 216320 : 4315 4-May: 219453 : 3133 The data at http://covid19.healthdata.org/united-st ... washington shows projected data after 5/1.
