If true, this is good news no matter what you believe about mRNA vaccines. In short, vaccinated people can’t give unvaccinated people COVID.

People who have been vaccinated against COVID-19 do not appear to be able to carry or transmit the virus to others, the director of the Centers for Disease Control said, based on data from the large, real-world study of vaccinated people released this week.
"Vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don't get sick, and that is not just in the clinical trials but it's also in real world data," CDC Director Dr. Rochelle P. Walensky said on The Rachel Maddow Show on Tuesday.

That data came from the CDC study released Monday of just under 4,000 heath care workers, police, firefighters and other essential workers who received one of the two mRNA vaccines between Dec. 14 and March 13. The vaccinated people were tested for COVID-19 every week for 13 weeks to monitor how effective the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines were in daily life in the U.S., outside of a clinical trial

Not entirely true. It says the vaccine is 90% effective. So there is still a chance of a vaccinated person catching and passing the virus to another person.

Assuming the CDC numbers hold true. The covid vaccine is way more effective than the annual flu vaccine which is at best 60% effective.

Well, it is until all of the new variants begin emerging. Then I wouldn't be surprised if it becomes as ineffective as the flu vaccine, or worse. And, lest we forget, the natural immune system has close to 100% efficacy, so I'm just not sure why anyone other than the extremely high-risk demographics would even consider the vaccine. Unless, of course, they've been deceived.

Out of the 1.2 million people who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in Washington, epidemiologists have reported evidence of 102 breakthrough cases in 18 counties since Feb. 1, representing less than 0.01% of all fully vaccinated individuals in the northwestern U.S. state. Most cases were patients who experienced only mild symptoms, if any, according to a press release from the Washington State Department of Health.

However, at least eight people with breakthrough cases have been hospitalized. The Washington State Department of Health is also investigating two potential breakthrough cases where the individuals died. Both patients were over 80 years old and suffered from underlying health issues.

Yes, but the very existence of breakthrough cases completely contradicts the CDC claim that "vaccinated people do not carry the virus, don't get sick". It's crap like that that completely reaffirms my refusal to give the CDC credibility.

I agree. Data is all over the place and is contradictory. As an engineer I find this frustrating. I like to make decisions on facts not emotions. Guess I am Going to have to wait and see how it all shakes out
