More than likely, the then President, lead by Flip-Flop Fau-xi and all of the President's other health care "experts" were brainstorming ways to confront the bio-attack and several experimental therapies were mentioned. Such as:

The President, a layman, faced with putting a good face on the government lead efforts at stemming the infection and cheerleading the public, had to pose these suggestions in sound bite form.

What I saw in that now famous news conference so often ridiculed and quoted above, was a President displaying the medical panel he had gathered, and paraphrasing, as a layman, some of the things he had heard mentioned, in an attempt to show that brainstorming was occurring, and that all manner of strategies - even experimental treatments were being considered.

Even in the example related in this thread above, he posed that as a question to his medical experts:

As I recall, in that presser the President asked that question and gestured to Debra Brix the Covid taskforce chair who, rather than offering correction or support (you know, like a team member might do merely sat there looking fatuously pained at the layman struggling with the complex medical issues)

The lapse in his knowledge as a virologist, which showed in his seemingly naïve comment, but made without pretense (he was deferring to his assembled team of experts) was seized upon by the media as another tool to impugn the President - much like his intention to shut down air traffic (which was then, too late, championed by the very people who initially opposed it)

The guy is a buffoon in many ways, but let's give the devil his due: he did assemble - something which he is good at, a team of what was purported to be the best medical minds to address the virus. He had some good ideas. And he did have some bad ones, but it is very easy to hindsight-hang anyone.

This has all been hashed over and over. What's happening - now?

Jackass posted a good video from Matt Bracken in the random video thread about the nefarious ways in which the response to Covid is being used to erode liberties and consolidate power. Way more important than using time to discredit someone who is no longer in office.
