My son is moving up from CA. How long before he can apply for a CPL?

When I moved up here as soon as I had WA DL in hand I applied for CPL and two days later I had CPL in hand.
Actual time as a resident was maybe 10 days.
Just get DL and apply.

It's actually easier to get a CPL here with an out-of-state ID because you can pick wherever you want to apply vs. a WA ID where you have to go to the LEA with jurisdiction over your area of residence. When I moved here from HI in 2013, I realized this and so I went with Snohomish County, because it was fast and no-hassle.

I have a somewhat related question:
My CPL was issued in King Co. It is up for renewal in April, and I now reside in Snohomish Co. Can I just go through the standard renewal process through Snohomish Co?

Only difference is if you're not a state resident they have 60 days to issue a CPL instead of 30 days, and that extends to people who have been a state resident less than 90 days as well. As mentioned, not a resident = go anywhere, resident = have to go to local agency.
