What do you suppose they’ll do with the worlds largest building? Empty And I heard they may restart the 747 programs, at least on a small scale. The writing was on the wall when they move HQ to Chicago

The writing was on the wall when they move HQ to Chicago It's not even close to being "empty" with the 787 moving, that is only 1 production bay out of 5. The 747 is still in production, but that is only until 2022. The writing on the wall to me is moving 737 production to Everett, but we shall see.

The Renton plant is pretty valuable real estate, and Boeing has already sold off most of it.

They can put two 737 production lines in the one bay vacated by the 787. While there are 3 in Renton, they won't be ramping up to a level where they need 3 anytime soon. After that? The 747 bay will open up, and the P8 line in Renton is winding down too. I see consolidation of all commercial production in Everett myself.

Those of us who work in healthcare in Snohomish county, where tens of thousands of patients have Boeing insurance, are watching this closely. Just like every other business up here with customers who work at Boeing.

This...for every Boeing lost, there are 4 more that will be affected. It's not just about Boeing.

Dont forget all the vendors supplying Boeing their components. I was a victim of that back in April. They are cutting a thousand jobs, but the media doesn't tell you their vendors are cutting 10,000 jobs. It just doesn't bleed like Boeing. Primus, Exotic metals, Hexcel, all these little shops are going under because Boeing can't get their shit together.

i was a contract logger for many years never put all your resources into one customer always have eggs in many baskets. may be not big baskets but many too many job shops have heavy reliance on Boeing just like they did on the harbor for the weyerhaeuser mills and ITT rayonier mills. when they left so did many huge companies who had all their eggs in one basket.
mega machine and aero precision were smart they used their machine expertis to make gun parts and other things as well
i am 85 and still have income from trucking because my eggs went to many small baskets not just one or two big baskets. it is a humble income i am not a rich man but our bills are paid and i get to go fishing and hunting and my wife and I got new rigs last year.
never trust nor rely on big companies for your welfare that is no different than being on the government soup line
my family has five busineses plus my son works a full time job we have what they call , " diversified "

Libs almost all flunked or should have flunked econ 101, if they ever even took it.
As you guys mentioned above, the damage from every Boeing job lost is exponential on the economy. Waves upon waves spiralling out.
They interviewed some dipshit local shopkeeper who you could tell was a moron libtard for the king5 story. He started bitching about Boeing's "lack of loyalty" and how the community would find a way to "push through." Idiot probably thinks money grows out of Obama's asshole.
