Silkweights and/or polypro too make a huge difference!

We a hose valve outside in loop into our kitchen faucets with I copper loop under the sink so it does not freeze at all. We live in our house for over 20 years now. On the front of the there is shut off valve inside of garage so we shut that valve off. The we just leave facet open outside.

We lived in other homes and put styrofoam insulation covers on. We also put styrofoam inserts on the foundation vents and then remove in the warmer weather. Then put the plugs back in in late October or early November.

This is a good idea, I should check these out too. Did you make your own plug for the foundation vent or is this something you bought?

No we ordered some pre-made ones base upon what vent type we have. The original owners that had the house built had styrofoam plugs already and left them in the garage after they sold the place to us. We had to order some more due to wind blowing some the covers away over the years. I don’t know what place we ordered from.
