...in their corporate boards.

Aren't there some states where this is literally illegal, like WA?

I'm not a subscriber, but I can still see the whole thing. Then again I also use adblock and tampermonkey to stop adblock blockers.

Banks, asset managers and lawmakers in California have taken various steps to diversify the predominantly white and male boardrooms of American companies. Nasdaq’s move could have greater impact because of its ability to set rules for the nearly 3,000 corporations listed on its exchange.

A better rule would be to require that all firms CEO NOT be a board member or that no other members of the company be board members unless under a certain size.
Additionally no board member may serve on more than 2 other boards.
And no board member shall serve more than say 8 years on the board and may not be admitted back onto the board for at least 4 years.
How about board members be limited to no more than 0.001% of gross profit as their salary and NO stock options.
Or how about the board finance be required to maintain a no more than 60 to 1 pay ration for top executive to the lowest worker (Or whatever number you want I say more like 40 would be better.) I don't mind the executives getting paid more but the salaries these board members and the executives make are ridiculous.

I worked for an outfit that hired a superintendent to fulfill a diversity quota. Her antics and decisions ran quite few people off, good people too. Luckily she didn’t last long and left facing a $100,000.00 fine and possible jail time.
