3.5 days post surgery. Clarity in the right eye seems to be improving daily. There is a definite "argument" between my 2 eyes on who want's to be the one in control of the picture I see lol. I still wear a monocle on my left eye, but as my right eye improves it gets to be annoying when looking at screens. If I take off my monocle, my 'new' eye has clearer vision than my old eye, so that's an improvement, but still a ways to go.
I drove for the first time yesterday (day and night). Not difficult, but was pretty cautious. Night driving wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. Some halos for sure, but nothing that would keep me from driving. The halos should get better, I am told.
Next follow up is Friday and they are expecting by then, my new eye should be pretty close to 'good-to-go'.

Dan has a new eyeball, so that's his thread. I have a cataract messing up my vision now. I've been waiting over a month to see the doctor because they've been booked solid. The 31st is my appt. day just to talk about it. I'll really be pissed if they say I have to wait another month just to go under the knife. Everyone tells me it's like a ten minute job? (like what happened to Dan) Anyone know why so long of a delay to get this done? It's not like the guy I'm going to see is the only game in town.

Rick, I had my cataracts replaced over three years ago before this damn panic and it was a waiting game. Fret not, they are not conspiring against you, it’s just the way they do stuff, you know I like any health care procedures.

I need to drive back to the homeland but I won't go until until I can see proper.

It’s really an awakening when you think that there are smudges on your glasses but when you take them off to clean them, they’re still there. I’m dealing with Macular Degeneration myself, it’s said to be hereditary… No corrective surgery for it either…

There is a wait because it’s the most common surgery there is. When I was there it was like an assembly line lol.
Also, there is a chance that COVID may delay any new non emergency procedures. Brace yourself.

Yep, surgery days are one right after another. The first eye I waited almost 3 hours. You said Monocle Dan, that's what they gave you? They put a contact in my other eye. So you have the Colonel Klink thing going on?

usrifle wrote: So how is the eye Dan? HA! I just... "saw" this. It's getting there. Admittedly not as fast as I had hoped. My far vision is pretty good, but intermediate and near are still crappy (but better than they were pre-RLE). I go in for my 1 week post op tomorrow AM and have a few questions for them on anticipated recovery time. I have talked to a few other people who have had RLE. One said they had clear vision in a week, the other said it took about 3. So, I am discouraged only because I live in an "Amazon" world... I want it now. lol. How's yours holding up?

Ok. 1 week post op exam results. They are not happy with my vision (and neither am I). I am at 20/50, with still some astigmatism. I should be 20/30 or 20/20. My toric lens is 12 degrees off axis and the most they want to see is 10 degrees. My cornea is still hard (that's what she said), so that could be why my vision is being slow to recover.
They want to give it 2 weeks, to allow the cornea to soften and hopeully the vision will improve. If it doesn't, there is a myriad of corrective options. From Lasix, to re-aligning the IOL (surgery).
They have postponed my left eye surgery that was supposed to take place next week until they see how my right eye is performing....

Well, shit. That's disappointing. However, it sounds like you have a solid plan, I'm sure it'll have a happy ending.
