The vast majority of issues with ICE vehicles are electrical in nature. Switching from Gas to batteries won't really change that

I think y'all should take Madpick and MD's advice by driving a Tesla and see if you all talk shit after. It sure is nice having that instant torque. It makes beating red lights from more than 500ft away from the crosswalk possible, leaving behind and destroying the egos of the dorks driving their V8 Rustangs, Chargers, Demons, or Camaros super satisfying, and the overall ride quality isn't any worse than any given modern ICE vehicle. Lay down on the go-go pedal the way you do on the gas pedal and you'll find yourself in the triple digits in a matter of 3'ish seconds. The only thing I find super annoying is the setting for auto high beams. I had to disable that bullshit while driving my dying cousin's Model Y. With that said, now I understand why ALL Tesla drivers seem to flick those fucking things on when I'm still in front of them. They just need to understand how to disable those fucking auto high beams.

I want a Tesla. Hell, I'd be down to test drive a Lucid Air and buy one if I could afford such a thing. If where I live had a better network of charging stations, I might be down to buy a used Tesla. Feel free to call me all the names you can think of.

The complaints are not about buying what you want, that's your choice. It's about EV's are more dangerous during a fire than gassers.

Which is just not true. Do they cause a hotter fire that’s more difficult to put out? Yup. Are they more dangerous? Nope.

I came up a a wreck probably one minute after it happened. It was one Tesla like Dan's, I don't know the model name, and a normal car. No one stopped or even wanted to drive close to the entire wreck. (looked like both cars would've been totaled)
Everyone was driving around the crash as far away as possible. People were on their cell phones so I'm assuming help was coming.

EVs are just politicized because of the mandate to switch over by 2035. They're no more dangerous than ICE vehicles. They're no more dangerous than DPF equipped semi-trucks. I see the aftermath of those fires on a weekly basis. From my own personal observation, those catch fire more often than regular ICE vehicles and EVs.

Tesla's are like airliners...

They're statistically safer, in just about every way....

BUT, when they 'go', they 'go' spectacularly, and the potential for damage/inability to manage the destruction is much higher.


If I get on scene of a vehicle with a small fire due to leaking fuel, I can put it out.

If I get on scene of an electric vehicle with a small fire due to a ruptured cell, I'm fucked. Because there's no way to stop it and 30 seconds later it's gonna be fully involved.


Also, companies are beginning to manufacture water tanks to dump burning EVs into... and no, I'm not joking.... Never had to do that with ICE vehicles.

I have a Tesla and another vehicle which is ICE. They are different niches. I hardly ever drive the ICE in the city and I would never take the Tesla on a forest road.

The Tesla is always charged up every morning ready to go and I don't miss needing to stop to get gas. For daily driving I never come even close to the range limits.

The ICE gets much better range, can be filled with a Jerry can in an emergency. It's a different vehicle in other ways, I picked a vehicle with more ground clearance and put severe weather tires (Nokian WRG's) on it, so it can go anywhere (soft road) through anything.

To me they are both fit to purpose, very different purposes.

I was doing some reading on hybrids just to be informed a little. While doing so, the author posed a couple of questions to ask your before you go out and buy or even look at an EV or hybrid. That off to the side, one thing that really gets little to NO mention is the increase in insurance rates. Kinda like they don't want you to know how much your premiums will go up.

My premium didn’t go up. Did the author have a comparison of how much the rates went up for a $60,000 EV vs a $60,000 ICE? I bet they will be close.

Check out the Hyundai and Kia offerings, lot of bang for the buck. They have a more "standard" interior with buttons and switches, versus the Tesla thatare all menus on the center screen.
