Got your AB Seaman's card? My dad gave up on Alaska and went to work on tugs in the Gulf of Mexico for several years, much better gig as far as working conditions, 2 weeks on 2 weeks off type rotations pushing barges and oil rig stuff. Deckhand paid $300/day-ish a few years ago, I didnt have enough documented seatime so I didn't pursue it any further. Other positions paid better.
