I guess I'm a half wit, but the steady curtailment of trade in the midst of an escalation of hostilities does not bode well for future peace, much less continued prosperity.

While it may not trigger WWIII Russia is signaling it is ready to rock Lithuania's world.
And really, if the assassination of an archduke can provoke a world war, trouncing on the national sovereignty of a few neighbors (and offing portions of their citizenry and threatening the lives of the rest by destroying infrastructure) I would posit that, yeah, there is a risk to triggering a world war.

The training quality of Ukrainian forces is showing. If the utter defeat of the Afghan National Army and Iraqi Army is anything to go by, Russia and China have nothing to worry about. They'll roll over any proxy army who stands in their way.

From a Matt Bracken gab thread (unfortunately it's not all in one place): Strategic Irrelevance of Kyiv: https://twitter.com/imetatronink/status ... 6333671425 It's not like taking Moscow, Leningrad or even Stalingrad mean anything in itself, what is the real, not political, objective?

https://halturnerradioshow.com/index.ph ... army-intel Reports are coming in CLAIMING (not yet verified) that Ukrainian Armed Forces members SOLD a United States "HIMARS" Multiple Rocket Launcher System (MLRS) to men they thought were "Chechens" for one million dollars.
The "Chechens" turned out to be Russian military intelligence.

We know approx. how much (around 80 bil, give or take) of military hardware, at least that's what was admitted, to the Taliban. How much more is being sold and obtained by Russia and our enemies for future study?
There are a lot of battlefield solutions that are of interest to our enemies, and even being in the control (or at least nominal control) of US troops, often times it is difficult to secure our hardware. But giving new hardware to non-NATO troops? Why do we continually give stuff to highly corrupt nations, like S. Vietnam, Afghanistan?
