What struck me is how much both of the videos looked like blasted role playing games so I am wondering how much time these nut jobs spent playing such games online.

Just saying. There were 2 U.S. mass shootings in 1891. Damn those violent video games! Kind of a disingenuous response. The next one after that was 12 years later, then 10 years later, then 33 years later… We get it, you don’t think violent video games influence developing minds. Edited to add: 2 years of his writings are showing he was radicalized through the political discussions on 4Chan during Covid, and whenever he felt like he shouldn’t go through with the killings, or should commit suicide, he was reinvigorated to follow through by discussions on 4Chan. But yeah, none of this has any impact…

I never said they had no impact. Please don't put words in my mouth. Since we're using analogies, I'll liken the concept to blaming the maggots for the rotting meat. It wasn't flies that made the road kill.

some old posts he made: Quote: 'My parents know little about me, they don't know about the hundreds of silver ounces I've had, or the hundreds of dollars I've spent on ammo. They don't know that I spent close to $1000 on random military sh-t. They don't even know I own a shotgun or an AR-15, or illegal magazines.'
'Promise me if you have a child you will be there and you will be close, be a friend to your child and make sure they know that you will always help them. Talk about their problems and ways to solve it and NEVER make them feel bad for coming to you.' Like I always say, hug your kids and tell them you love them every single day

I grew up in a video game generation. Gen-X was the first to in a big way really. Well heck, if you count some baby boomers who had pong and light gun games in the late 60's or early 70's then they had some before my group. But I have played many so-called violent games and I have even been involved in 3d design and other roles for several video games. I currently work on one now through Microprose. I have never once had games drive me to violent acts. But there is a difference between crazy and sane and weak and strong minded. There are a lot of people out there who should be in a padded cell but the society we find ourselves in now encourages violent acts and narcissism for popularity and political gain. It also doesn't help that social interaction is far different now from when I grew up when a cell phone was simply to contact someone to go hang out with that person. Now kids live on these things and have a huge lack of skills because of it.

Video games.
Started on a terminal and 300 baud modem "you are standing in a field" to pong, space wars, asteroids, missile command a great many FPS (Unreal Tournament LAN party AT WORK) and so many more.
Taught myself 6502 and 8088 assembler language and wrote my own video games ("Deathwish" was one - utterly unwinnable).
Raised 4 wonderful kids who are amazing.
Never a raised voice in 20 years blissful marriage.
A model citizen.
It's not the video games.
Flouride in the water now ...
