China just fired 5 missiles into Japan's exclusive economic zone. Biden does nothing.
Time for Japan to get to work rebuilding Kido Butai and getting back in shape to climb Mt. Niitaka.

They are posturing to appeal to the China public. Their banks are collasping and the ponzi real estate scams going on in that country are coming home to roost. Pair that with the imposed lockdowns and the million man PLA is going to be too busy putting down their own people rioting to worry about that Island of rebels. Not saying they will try, but it will be difficult for them to do it.

Steve Qualye thinks that Pelosi is the acting President since Biden is old and Kamala is, well, unliked.
Hal Turner had a story about Taiwan Semiconductor (TSMC) turning toward the CCP. When I worked for a big semiconductor maker for a brief time, TSMC was the undisputed leader in chips, bar none. This is the ultimate prize. If so, where will the US military get their chips, especially if car makers can't?
Who knows, maybe Taiwan will turn over without a shot. Especially if they think the US will not support them. As Sun Tsu said, if you can get your enemy to capitulate without a shot, that is greatly preferred to waging a war.
If Saudi Arabia announces that they are joining BRICS and leaving the petro dollar, will we have allies in the world?
And if you read PLA Gen Chi Haitian's speech, he says Taiwan is not the real target, but the mainland US.

Is China on the verge of collapse? Do they have a definite problem with putting a lid on dissidents? Is one reason for the current lockdown, is not covid related but it saves food for the military and provides an easy way to get rid of dissidents where no one will notice.
Interesting talk about goings on in China to include the plight of political dissidents. Has the famous stories about prisoners in the laugai (Chinese prison) where they make pistachios and products for Wal Mart. Prisoners who had to crack nuts for sale, since that was preferable for many, until their hands bled. Jeff referenced Harry Wu and others and remarked about political prisoners iron will and determination to do the right thing, despite their horrific conditions. Do we have any like this in the West?

Listened to an after action review of the attack on Pearl Harbor a while back and there was a concern by Adm Kimmel and Navy Dept to the placement of so many capital ships in Pearl Harbor and not near the US mainland, because of support and protection issues. Hope we don't have the same concerns today.

"Taipei this week that any future incursion by China into the island’s airspace would be treated as a “first strike” by Taiwan and would result in kinetic retaliation. Chiu added, “In the past we said we won’t be the first to strike, which meant we won’t do it without them firing artillery shells or missiles, et cetera, first… but now that definition has obviously changed.”

"Speaking at an event organized by Bloomberg, Blinken said China had altered a decades-old basic understanding between Washington and Beijing that its differences with Taiwan would be managed peacefully."

Physically can’t transport soldiers 100 miles from shore. He could certainly try to blockade.
As we are finding the shortfalls of Russia. China is also a big smoke and mirrors show.
They look big on paper. But in reality it’s all mostly imagined. Lacking in depth and actual capability.
On paper they have several “Carriers”
But do the research. They don’t have the infrastructure to project the carriers too far (supply/fuel etc) and the planes themselves are lacking. Research some of their high tech copies trying to take off on their carriers. Look at combat fuel and arms capacity on takeoff.

Jeff noted that a former General Rothschild noted that the US needs to protect everything that goes into us: food, supplements, medicines and everything that goes into them, and prevent them from being adulterated. Since we have outsourced much of our food processing and medicine to China, can any of these be adulterated?
He also noted that our series of six anthrax vaccine only allegedly protects against intestinal anthrax, not pulmonary.
If you killed 7% of the elderly and infirm with a virus, would that really affect a nation? What about a similar amount of young adults?

"Xi Jinping said the Chinese military must devote its efforts towards preparation for war. Saying “combat ability” was the “fundamental and only criterion” for the military, Xi called on military leaders to “concentrate all energy on fighting a war.” Xi directed China’s military leaders to create an organizational culture that was “absolutely loyal, good at planning wars, efficient in command, and dares to win,” saying China must do all it can to make the PLA a world-class military by 2027."
Five year plan?

Forward Observer follows trends in geopolitical events and was a front-runner in warning of the Russia-Ukraine conflict. They've just issued a warning on the China-Taiwan front.
