My last week in Washington State

As some of you may know, I sold my house and I am relocating out of State. I lived here my whole life and now I can not recognize the very place I've grown up in and I cannot stand what has become of this state. You have to make at least 87k to afford an apartment, and the homeless tweaker situation has gotten completely out of control beyond what any politicians promise to fix without rounding them all up and putting them in work camps. To say that my move is not politically motivated would be a lie, but it's not the whole truth. I got fed up when I was in the drive through at bigfoot java with my wife and kids in broad daylight when some homeless junkie plopped down on the bench and proceeded to inject himself with some unknown narcotic In Bonney Lake. I expect to see that maybe in downtown, maybe in Kent or Renton, but not in a bedroom community like that. It was at that point I internally asked myself if this is where I want to raise my kids and you all know the answer. None of us hard working people deserve to put up with this. I am getting out and hopefully every good person with a decent work ethic realizes the same thing and escapes this hell hole and leave it to useless twits who think they are "fixing things." I have no desire to keep fighting the brain washed degenerates that drunk the social justice tea and I have lost all sympathy for people who are "down on their luck" needing help to "get back on their feet" while someone who's turning their life around just smashed my car window to get the change out of my cup holder. By this time next week I'll someplace drier, hopefully with friendlier people and buying gas doesn't require a mortgage. Then maybe my love and compassion for my fellow man might return. As it stands now, the sooner that meteor comes crashing down on Olympia and the Space Needle the better, Bellevue needs to be waterfront property.

Ace, I hear ya.
My perspective on life and our society has changed drastically over the last few years. While the WA legislature is in session, I'm a fucking wreck, stressed out, angry, sleepless, etc. I'm just grateful that that is a relatively short period of the year.
The rest of the year is better, but still shitty. I can't believe how absolutely insane the left is (down is up, black is white), and this is reflected in both our state and federal governments. Things feel pretty hopeless to me, most of the time, which makes weeks like this one (two good Supreme Court rulings, especially the 2A one) a welcome breath of fresh air.
When I take a vacation and get out to more sane areas (e.g., Montana, Wyoming and others) . . . oh man, what a different feeling it is. Normal people still live in this country!
So yeah, I get it. I don't blame you a bit. You only live once.
Where are you headed?

Let us know where you land and expect to fight to preserve what good you find. Fair winds and following seas.

Congrats. I have moved a few times after leaving Washington, and will be relocating to Oklahoma next week. There are a few free places left in this country, get out while you can.

I hope they sell return keys wherever you’re moving to… Snark aside, I don’t blame you. Since moving I’ve had to travel back a few times. Every time I can’t wait to leave. It’s like a bad country song: Oh Washington, I just can’t stop leaving you *three times by land, once by sea

Good for you. I also grew up in that area (Enumclaw). I fought the good fight, politically and as a LEO in Bonney Lake. And to no avail, things just get crazier and crazier. You can only do that for so long and you need to get out. I retired and moved out of state. Found myself in a small town that reminds me a lot of where I came from. Great people here, who haven't drunk the socialist cool-aid. I'm going to work hard to keep this place the way it is now. With any luck, I'll be in the ground before it becomes Washington/Oregon/California...

Yep Ace, I think many of us are considering the same thing. I would hate to leave where I am but then again with the stupidity of the so-called leader and wicked men in charge or our courts who call evil good and good evil, there is only one thing to do stand for righteousness and trust that a righteous man raises up and executes judgment on all of them. that day is coming may not be as soon as we would all like it to be. As the good book says, when the foundations be destroyed what can the righteous do? Our leftist democrat so-called representatives, that represent themselves and very little of those they are supposed to represent, choose to continue to ignore the constitution and exact wickedness it gets harder and harder to stand for truth. Where ever you all land best wishes to you and your family. It will be so refreshing for you to not have to unteach all the crap Wa state teachers are shoveling.

BH if you get into the Lawton area let me know. I still love the West coast physically. I just can't stand the cost of living and politics. The cost of gas has gone more than $4 per gallon, but overall it's better cost-wise. Also, you can get gazillion round mags here. It may be constitutional carry here but I would still get an OK carry card which is accepted in 37 states except for.............WA. OK version of waguns. Not as good, but hey. https://www.okshooters.com/

I've been around. 59 countries, all seven continents, all 50 states, most of Canada, and just finished up visiting every state in Brazil last year. COVID travel bans only apply when things aren't broken.
Politics has borders, and those borders aren't state lines. It becomes a state line issue when people run away, claiming to fight the good fight by turning tail and leaving an area. When the military pulls out of a place, the evil over-runs it. Vietnam, North Korea, Afghanistan, Somalia....et al.
There are "good people" all over Washington State. In fact, there are only a few counties in this state that vote "BLUE".....those counties are the bubble people---like those posting here--who think they have to travel to Idaho, Montana, Wyoming, eastern Oregon, et al to find decent folk. Same people mortified at the thought of driving south of the Tacoma Dome to meet a fellow Wagunner to buy some ammo.
Facts are,
Come to Thurston County. Not downtown Oly on the Capital campus, or 4th street, but go out Cooper Point Rd, or down to Rochester, Tenino, Maytown. Talk to some farmers, ranchers, loggers----people think the pocket gopher is an ax, chopping away freedom, but what it really is, is a way the County figured out it could prolong the inevitable and keep the Mima prairie from turning into the shithole ya'll call Kent as long as possible.
Come down to Centralia, Chehalis, Onalaska, Silver Creek. Is there meth? Probably, probably heroin too but it has been there long before now. What's also down there is wide open space, freedom, nice people, and opportunity.
Come to Grays Harbor County--Aberdeen can fuck off, but Aberdeen has been a shit hole across centuries at this point. One of the (allegedly) most heinous serial killers of mankind is from there--pushing the dead into the boats to dump them offshore under the covers of darkness. How many mariners were killed? Nobody knows, but the guess is hundreds of merchant sailors gone. Could they do the same now with all the zombies on the river camp? Hard to say, but the town is still going in spite of itself. Montesano, Elma, Hoquiam, even Cosmopolis, are doing pretty well and the County is pro 2A, pro capitalism, and other than some rain, pretty damn good place to call home. I'm fairly certain you could fire a howitzer out on Larson Bros. Rd and nobody will notice.
Sure, there is some drug abuse here but there is---newsflash, my location doesn't lie--drug abuse all over Montana. In fact for a great number of years, Montana had one of the highest per capita instances of drug addiction across the entire US population. Easy to forget when it appears RED on a political map, and those who live there who like to post the daily rumblings of the local shit kicker paper are leaving out many of the other occurrences of fact, like break ins, robberies, assaults, drug lab busts, human trafficking, and the list of things happening in Big Sky Country on the regular. I own a ranch there, I own a cabin there, I've had things stolen there more than I have had things stolen here. It's not glamorous to say that, so those with fancy hats and trucks that barely get dirty can pretend they live in the wild west down the way from John Dutton when in reality they're turning purple, but too arrogant to admit it. I'll be in Kalispell in 2 weeks, can't wait to see how it looks and smells now. I recall a certain poster here getting into litigation on their freakin' well before their foundation was hardly even a twinkle in the contractor's eye. How's that for "freedom"........lol
Idaho--don't even get me started. My father and I competed in the Basque competitions there since the early 1980s. I've been to Boise--pop quiz to those new Idahoans, how do ya properly pronounce it. I'll wait. Oh, wait they say, Boise is a shithole we live in the perfect utopia of Kootenai County. Ask me how that works in a few years when the County starts putting taxes on water. Did I mention my family has land there, too? I'll wait. What may just save Idaho are the Mormons--but that's dancing with wolves to feel safe from cougars. Read into that what you will.
All that said, for those here who don't like me because I speak my mind--whether your name is in blue, orange, pink, green, or RED--don't feel like you have to run away and gloat like a little child because you're too afraid to venture out of your bubble communities between JBLM and Mukilteo Speedway. Come on down to places where firearms are fired in backyards, and neighbors bring their's over too. Where log trucks fly TRUMP flags and get thumbs UP from the WSP at the weigh stations. Where people still live free and enjoy mother nature the way we always have in Washington.
To steal verbiage from one of the finest LEO this state has ever seen, it goes both ways people. Stay and fight. Vote. But please, DON'T BE A SHEEP.
Or, on second thought, just stay up there. The real bears and cougars and sasquatch may be too scary for you, and your REI outdoor gear won't be able to save you.

I am heading out to the KC area. I already have a few job prospects that actually pay more than what I make here. My ancestors were mostly ethnic German living in the Russian empire. My grandparents retold the story of when my great grandparents were children, the bolsheviks would come to their village, steal all young males of fighting age and ransack their homes and take all the family bibles and burn them out in the open. That is when they knew to leave. There were too many of them to fight and none of them knew how to anyway. So they ran to here. I'm afraid I see the same things my ancestors saw that many years ago, and moving back to the prairie brings me closer to where my grandparents are buried, but I fear we are running out of places to escape to. There will be a time I think here when people are done talking. I don't think we are there yet, but we are close. fairly certain though that common sense is an endangered species in this state and I'm not sure the right side will ever win in this area until the people who actually keep this place running give up and let the rest of these people starve and freeze.

The vocal minority will win over. My ethnic German/Russian great-great-grandfather escaped servitude as a Cossack in the Russian Army, when he and a friend/fellow Cossack witnessed their friend executed by their commanding officer for stealing oats from the horse trough for food--horses, you see, were much more valuable than men to the great bolsheviks. Seems that trend is repeating itself in 2022 over there as well. I seriously wish you the best in the KC area. Having spent (too) many days around there, St. Joe down to the Lake of the 'Zarks.....speaking of St. Joe f you make it down there, https://www.boudreauxstjoe.com/ Other than right in the heart of Cajun country, I've not found better.

Gopher I totally agree. I only came here because I'm getting twice+ the pay at half the cost of living for the most part. More vet friendly. Job is what I like to do. The only thing that costs more is home insurance, income tax, and food tax. But I can get massive mags, full auto, and shoot armadillos in my yard.

We have until this coming Thursday to get the same mags, full auto stuff is too expensive for most anyways--unless you're a FFL 01 and can build it, which you can do here too---and anyone on this site should've been fully mag'd up long before the delusional twat and her gray haired puppet took office, with more than enough to drop on the ground near some opportunistic new resident. But everyone is leaving so that don't matter... Armadillos taste like chicken? Last time I was in OK the tires on my truck developed a permanent feathering from countersteering against the oncoming thunderstorm across I-40. Helluva time lol
