So as am American that is in manufacturing, I've had this talk quite a bit. You're truck was made here, sure, 100%? I'm not positive, I thought most powerplants still came from over seas?
Anyway, my question is, what's better, made in America by a foreign owned company, or foreign made by an American company?

Yes. That is a great question and you have to actually just dig a little bit deeper. At the end of the day I would consider jobs for the working class the biggest factor, in my opinion. Would you go unemployed, having a family, mortgage, having to buy groceries and not work in a facility owned by a foreign country?

The engines for the Toyota Tundra are made in the Toyota Engine facility in Alabama. The Transmission is made by; Aisin transmissions in Seymour, Indiana. So Toyota is a Japanese company with manufacturing facilities in the USA. Where this gets a big push back is they do not employ UAW workers. That is the big rub.

What is American?
Jim Beam is owned by a Japanese consortium: Japan's Suntory bought Jim Beam for 16 Billion dollars in 2014

Anheuser-Busch, maker of Budweiser beer is owned by AB InBev, is a Belgian multinational drink and brewing company based in Leuven, Belgium.

Smithfield Foods, Inc. is a China-owned pork producer and food-processing company based in Smithfield, Virginia, in the United States, and an independent subsidiary of WH Group.

The list goes on…

Many products manufactured in the USA use parts or components made in foreign countries.

At the end of the day this is what pisses me off, the USA was the manufacturing powerhouse of the entire world and it has been chipped away, sold out, moved overseas and the US worker has been marginalized to increase the profits of the 1%’s. It’s so bad that the US Military are using arms owned by foreign companies.

Great insight, thanks. I see both sides, but tend to agree with you. Just to me, a very thought provoking question. I tend not to like Toyota personally, but the fact that they are not a union house mames me like them more. Good for them!

Didn't the workers vote to not unionize? Like multiple times?

If anyone can reference where to buy rifle bags other than Lynx defense, that would be great.

As in the American taxpayer subsidizes every car that comes off the line, and is therefore owned by the People?

My Rawlings baseball glove was made in America. I've had it for 27 years and it is still holding up. They certainly don't make them like they used to.

Tell me again what Federal Subsidy exists for Tesla Vehicles?

But in all seriousness.. Tesla is the most American Made (Assembled and sourced) vehicle in the US. In fact, they hold 4 out of the 10 spots of the most 'Merican.

ETA- it was phased out for Tesla in 2020 but the tax credit for charging stations is coming back and other manufacturers still qualify for the credit
