Yes I keep an eye on that stuff, too. Fortunately there are alternatives to Patagonia. Unfortunately many outdoors products companies behave the same...

Or, like REI, are predatory towards their own suppliers; they do Walmart-style buying... hog up a small (usually U.S.) manufacturer's production capacity to the extent that the manufacturer will forgo other potential customers. Meanwhile Walmart drags them through the mud with delayed payments, cash strapping the producer and ultimately dictates pricing and terms, or face ruination when Walmart threatens return of unsold inventory.

REI buys up their business partners then immediately ships production overseas.

Pyke Manufacturing of Utah declared chapter 11 in 1994, and Tennessee Apparel, Everite of Pennsylvania, and Linda Apparel of San Francisco have long since shut their doors. It is very difficult for clothing companies to find factories in the U.S. that meet our standards; the textile industry is much smaller; the work has shifted overseas.

AFAIK some of Patagonia bags are berry compliant and made in the USA like their Black Hole Duffle bag. Not everything they make is USA made but some of them are USA made enough for berry compliance.

But they have questionable politics so I was wondering where people would rather spend money on.
