6.8 magnitude hit Taiwan yesterday. Pretty good amount of damage. And a 7.6 magnitude just hit Methico (and generated some giant salami waves).

Getcher preps refreshed. You just never know if we'll join the dance.

Good reminder, Jim. Water is most important of all. 3 days without it and you're toast. Have plenty of clean drinking water on hand.

Oh shit, I'm almost out of beer!

All joking aside, it's good advice about the fresh water. I used to have a 10,000 gallon supply in my backyard, but i got rid of the above ground pool.

I was about to post something similar.

The ring of fire is getting much more seismically active...

FYI, an entire pallet of water at Costco is 48 cases, with 40 bottles each.. It ends up ~$200 for an entire pallet.

I’m not a gambling type.

I suck at gambling and I hate losing my money.

But odds are… we are in that gap and we will most likely have something? When?

Well, if we knew when - we wouldn’t be here.
But odds are not in our favor that we won’t.

So at least take the time to look at what you have and get some before things don’t become choices… and all you have left are bad or no choices.

There's plenty of rain in WA. Why are you all so worried about water?

Because when the demand for fresh water pivots from municipal sources to natural sources (because the municipal sources are not functioning or are contaminated), then you may not find those natural sources sufficient. Not to mention the energy/resources required to make that water safe may also be precious at that point, so you may not always possess the ability to make your rain catchment potable. And before anyone says, "but we have endless timber here, too!", consider that in order for it to be ready to burn now to boil that water you collected, you have to have planned for that usage months in advance.

Bottom line is, when disaster strikes, you can never have enough fresh drinking water. Trying to collect enough after "the event" may prove more challenging than you think.

To add further color, consider how whenever there is major flooding or any sort of breakdown of municipal utilities, the sewage systems typically vent into our lakes/rivers/the ocean. So the likelihood is high that nothing but what you already have on hand will be drinkable without said significant effort. IIRC it was during the first day of the major rains and flooding here last fall that we received a boil alert and we were all advised not to enter or consume water from the lakes and rivers. Shortly thereafter the soil disturbances severed my and all of my neighbors water lines and well piping. Roads up the mountain I live on became impassible and power lines went down shortly thereafter. I went to try out my sneaky emergency water siphon and filtration setup that draws from a small lake on the edge of the property, but a neighbor's septic tank (or maybe multiple?) had already overflowed and contaminated it badly. We were living off the water, food and fuel I had stored for about a week.

Water, water everywhere, nor any drop to drink...

Remember i have supplies for sale from past group buys i did. Prices are way below current too. The link in my signature gets you there.
Good reminder just sent to my group to refresh water supplies.

Problem with the costco water is that light plastic is not a good long term storage. I keep a couple of cases handy but store the long term stuff in the heavy water barrels and containers with the freshtening agents.

Always a good idea. How much do you think is enough?
225 gal for the family of 5
2 - solar distillation setups, probably with poopy water from the lake
1 solar straw
abundance of calcium hypochlorite (pool shock)
7 days worth of 25 year food. (at 1800 cal/day pp)
4 days of canned soups (4 cans a day pp)
3 days of MREs (at 2 MREs day pp)

I feel like I need to double my food stock or the foul and rabbits would start disappearing from the lake.

IMO quadruple your food stock at a minimum, if possible. If you’re near Lynwood like your profile says, I think trips to the lake during a prolonged outage/food shortage would be very dangerous.
