I have always wondered why.. Why (and how) a resource rich continent, or some of its many members have never been able to exploit those natural resources to lift itself into the first world and the 21st century. Certainly, the self-imposed shackles of avaricious petty tyrants and the instability borne of feuding warlords explains some of the difficulties of creating a favorable economic atmosphere which could foster regional prosperity, but that's not enough of an explanation. Surely the death of colonialism and the nurturing hand of the U.N. could assist? (I guess one might ask the ghost of Haile Salasse about U.N. assistance) And why is Europe so keen on allowing Africans -aside from flagging European birth rates - to flood its shores? I always thought that while Ghaddaffi was certifiable, his thumb on that powder keg was beneficial and his threats of unleashing a 'black tide' on European shores in his absence was prescient, and so the Western born overthrow suspect. Well, it would seem Girorgia Meloni has been pulling back the shrouds covering Western meddling. https://www.zerohedge.com/geopolitical/ ... paign=1087"The raging statement from Italy's prime minister, Giorgia Meloni -- you've got to listen to it in Italian with the sound on -- pretty well demonstrated that this was someone who full well knew the damage and hypocrisy of France, whose policies effectively enticed migrants to dump their homelands and come up to Europe for the welfare." She bags on France, but plenty of others share the plunder. The comments on usurous minting costs is never discussed on CNN, is it?

So coincidental that you ask this question and we just went over it in my cultural anthropology class. I think this video might sum up why the best but to each their own. https://youtu.be/sTa5iDbZXu0

Not Africa specific. I am from Venezuela where the whole country is sitting on a big pile of oil, gold, uranium, aluminum, iron, rich flat lands ideal for agriculture, wasted truism potential with beautiful nature features like incredible beaches, rainforest, biodiversity, pristine national parks, etc. Still a 3rd world country. Its cultural on the corruption, socialist mindset that the government somehow owe you something and this weird pay gap that plagues all 3rd world countries that makes people unable to pay for their own things despite working like mules.

Simple. Uncivil societies.
Read Sam Huntington's book Clash of Civilizations.

The world is apportioned in three spheres of influence and in perpetual warfare over parts of India and Africa, as outlined in 1984. https://bigthink.com/strange-maps/66-th ... ells-1984/

There's actually a good book for that. https://www.amazon.com/Guns-Germs-Steel ... 0393317552. Trade routes, climate differences, wildlife and its susceptibility for domestication, development of resistance to disease, etc. And of course, just like we see with the current US wealth gap and diminishing middle class, you create a positive feedback loop where those initial benefits are magnified generationally.
