According to a Seattle Public Health spokesperson, the county is seeing a rise in drug deaths because of “structural racism” and “criminalization of substance use disorders.”
Which, is silly, considering the vast majority of ODs are white people.. of the 1019 ODs in SKC last year, 581 were white, and only 161 were black. Which is ~59% and 16%... Keep in mind that nationwide demographics put white people at ~72-76% of the population (depending on how you count hispanic people), and black people at 12.6%... So, we're talking pretty equal distribution across races.... But, if 'structural racism' is to blame, why all the white people ODing? I thought you couldn't be racist against white people?
That second part? “criminalization of substance use disorder” . No one gets arrested for drugs in Seattle. There's actually a state law now that PREVENTS agencies from arresting for personal use drug crimes unless they've been referred to help at least 3 times...

As many have said here, throwing (our) money at the problem doesn't help, just serves to enable the problem more. Also, most of these bums or " housing challenged" shall we say, don't like any kind of rules many shelters have such as no drugs, booze, curfews etc. They all like the carefree mind set, not wanting to follow the basic rules of society. Also serves as one of the left's boogeymen to facilitate their continued fleecing of the taxpayer in the name of "ending a crisis", "equality" or whatever buzzwords and euphemisms they like to use to play emotion based politics.

Naw, not really, they didn't get much of a share of that.
The street-people-industrial-complex on the other hand, did quite well for itself.
The shitstains that run that program, what kind of cars do THEY drive, what kind of houses do THEY live in? Find out and put THAT on a billboard in Seattle...
