Valley fever actually saved my old man's life...or at least extended it. Let me explain.
He's an avid off-road enthusiast and got it after a dune trip at the age of 74. They got it figured out early and put him on the anti-fungal med. Same stuff for toe fungus.
Anyhow during that process of multiple scans they found a few spots they wanted better pictures of.....which led to a Whipple surgery...which led to biopsy results. Basically he was a few weeks away from pancreatic cancer. He dodged a bullet and has a new lease on life.
He's 80 now and still goes out to Glamis twice a week in the winter. Definitely doing retirement right in my opinion.
That’s an awesome story Ryan, someone was definitely looking over him.
