Mr XXXX,
All firearms turned in at this event will be disposed of in accordance with Sheriff's Office policy. That policy states that we will exchange surrendered firearms to a federally licensed firearms dealer for credit. That credit will be used to purchase ammunition for agency firearms proficiency training. We will, however, give those people surrendering a firearm the option of having the weapon destroyed. We will also have an agency armorer on site to evaluate all firearms surrendered. If we identify a weapon that appears to be a collectible, we will suggest to the owner that they consider contacting a dealer to evaluate the value of the weapon.
TCSO will not allow solicitors on site to offer to purchase firearms intended to be surrendered.
If you have any further questions, you can contact me directly.

Thank you Lt. Elwin!
A couple of quick additional questions after reading your email.
1) Does the Dept. have a pre-selected FFL or is it open for "bidding"?
2) As with most gun-buy back / turn-ins happen around the Country, there is always a small group of people who attempt to intercept the firearms to help bolster their collection. How does the TCSO plan on dealing with the event being open to the public and on public property in regards to these people? What RCW or Statute would they be in violation of that could have them removed from the premises?
Thanks for your time,
Dan
