Do we have a way to do quick, on the spot serial number checks to look for stolen items?
secondly, if you're there trying to buy, the cops have considered it brandishing before, and may go that route & put you away. might want to call them before you just go camp out....
I like the idea, but I also think that it should be coordinated with the sheriff if you want to set up a table. heck a group of us should talk with KC sheriff about it, and if they plan other turn-ins in the region, have a group to go buy if they'll allow it. if they will, I'm in...

The term brandishing does not appear in Washington state law. It's "unlawful use of a firearm to intimidate another " and for stolen? I just call the sheriff's department and have them run it Lol.

Means they are gonna collect them and destroy them. We can't let that happen.

If we're gonna do this as a group we ALL need to pay the same for every gun. $20?, $40, $50? It has to be uniform so every member has a chance to get some guns. None of this fair price BS, if they are willing to GIVE then to LE, then a little cash might entice them to sell to members than give to LE. we must also be responsible and let every member that shows have an opportunity to buy the guns they want. If we buy them all for the same prices, then afterwards we can do a meet/greet/swap.
If I buy a G23 for $20, then I can trade it for a rem 870 or something because we all bought the guns for the same price. Even trade only sort of thing. 1 gun for 1 gun.
Buy them up, swap later.

I think if someone shows up with something clearly rare or valuable they should have a chance to realize a fair price. Paying $30 for a Luger because the person didn't know better is just wrong
That said I'm looking for cheap Saturday night specials and broken 22s

I think if anything shows up, It's going to look like most gun turn in's. Old pistols forgotten in drawers, old rifles or shotguns rusting in attics...

Talked to a guy at an Oregon buy back. Picked up a 700 CDL with Leupold scope for $60, 95% Winchester 94 in 30-30 for $60. Some are old and forgotten barely functioning or non-functioning, but some are gonna be "grandpa's old guns" that got passed down to 3 generations and they just don't want them anymore.
I am hopeful for this thing.

Like the idea General.. Same time.. If some rare/valuable item arrives, be nice to compensate the person turning in a bit.. While they may have been willing to turn in for free, WE know better and I think we could really make WAGUNS and gun owners look good if they suddenly went home with a nice bundle of Cash. Makes us look VERY good for not taking advantage of them, even if they never planned to get a dime..
Like mentioned I am tired of seeing clueless people turning in AR's etc for free or a $20 giftcard for dinner..
So flat price for most guns, but maybe for the high value items "waguns", or one of our vendors buys them for 25%(or whatever percent) of market price? Then we could auction them off here on WAguns and the proceeds after purchase/tax/ffl go to Waguns? The person turning in gets a nice surprize cashflow, and we all get the chance to get a weapon cheaper AND help Waguns?
So a guy walks in with an AR, say going value is $1000. "we" buy it for $250, then put for auction starting at like $300? Probably have to set rules like members in good standing etc, but I see that as an everybody wins? If there are a number of items like that maybe allow each member to only buy ONE of these items, so everyone gets a chance and one guy with more $ than the rest does not buy them all..?

Being coordinated will help, but remember, there will be more than just us there.

I know Greg's rollin' in dough these days, but are you really asking him to buy guns on spec with his own money and IF they sell give all the profits to WAGuns?
Sounds good to me.
I'd have considered it a big favor if I gave him some cash and a list of what I want so he could pick up something for me if he sees one - provided he gives the cash back if he doesn't. I'm always thinking too small . . . .

As an alternative, could we, should we consider offering a donation to a charity in the donor's name, in exchange for the weapon?
I agree with general as far as meeting later for a swap.

That may also provide Waguns with some positive local community press.
Also, if the guns being tunred in are in fact crap, we could let those go to the Sheriff for destruction.
