Yeah, sounds like they want to simply make up rules as they go. Which in my book is a no go. Regardless of what they say, they are wrong. People on public property doing nothing wrong, not causing a disturbance, and obeying the laws cannot be removed just because they said so.

Too many times I have seen the police cause the disturbance themselves, then arrest their target for causing that very same disturbance.

I saw the news this morning on the one in seattle. They said people turnin tons of assault rifles and hand guns, but all they showed were trash cans of old single shot shotguns and bolt rifles.

These people are dumb. If you dont want the shit take it to a pawn shop.
Ihave thought about going to a pawn shop and picking up all the hundred dol
lar guns I could and get 200 for them though. HMMMMMM. That gives me an idea.

Mr XXXX,

All firearms turned in at this event will be disposed of in accordance with Sheriff's Office policy. That policy states that we will exchange surrendered firearms to a federally licensed firearms dealer for credit. That credit will be used to purchase ammunition for agency firearms proficiency training. We will, however, give those people surrendering a firearm the option of having the weapon destroyed. We will also have an agency armorer on site to evaluate all firearms surrendered. If we identify a weapon that appears to be a collectible, we will suggest to the owner that they consider contacting a dealer to evaluate the value of the weapon.

TCSO will not allow solicitors on site to offer to purchase firearms intended to be surrendered.

If you have any further questions, you can contact me directly.

Hold on just a minute here.....so they are SELLING these firearms to an FFL to get ammo for their own use. Pretty damn sure that FFL isn't going to just "destroy" those. They are going to resell them! WTF! That's nothing more than an idiot tax - a tax on those who turn them in for the profit of the Sheriff. :whatthe:

No wonder they don't want anyone there. It's competition!

I thought the whole premise of this was to get guns "off the streets"

If they get sold again through an FFL....aren't they going right back where they started?? Maybe if you have a copy of that email with you when you're buying (without the destroy part, hehe) then you can tell people that in fact their weapons will simply end up right back in someones hands - so they might as well give them to you and get some $$ :thumbsup2:

so some FFL, likely an officer or pal to one of the TCSO gets to make out like a king... got it. they will act like thugs to anyone that shows up trying to do private transactions. they just stated such, just read between the lines.

this is corruption, and should be exposed. however, media won't be on your side.

not my fight, I'm out.

Those of you that go there, it might be wise to have someone on the side to capture video and audio if there does become any disturbance.

That's for sure. Precendence has already been established that we ARE allowed to record any interaction between us and LE provided we notify them that audio and video equipment is recording.

Thats not quite correct. While in the public domain there is no need to notify if there is no expectation of privacy. I believe the precident setting case was state v. flores.

Personally, I wouldn't even bother to notify them you are recording as long as it is on public property.

I second that. You do NOT need to inform an officer, or any public official that they are being recorded.

Unless there is an expectation of privacy (i.e. you cannot record them in the restroom).

In the bathroom, yes.

But I think any other time.... if an officer is 'on the job', they can be recorded. They are "PUBLIC" officials. As such, when doing their job, they can expect no priivacy.

Ahh, then I misunderstood. Thanks for clarifying.

I would just be careful when anywhere thats not a wide open public place. As expectation of privacy will more than likely be defined by someone other than you if the issue is pressed.

I like how this is a gun for ammo deal. The ammo not going to the person trading in the gun...

Someone with an Olympian account to leave comments should mention the selling fund to an FFL for ammo credit.....
