No . . . you trade those for fresh vegetables when SHTF.
Duly noted. I stand corrected.

I know Greg's rollin' in dough these days, but are you really asking him to buy guns on spec with his own money and IF they sell give all the profits to WAGuns?
Sounds good to me.
I'd have considered it a big favor if I gave him some cash and a list of what I want so he could pick up something for me if he sees one - provided he gives the cash back if he doesn't. I'm always thinking too small . . . .

I only mentioned Greg specifically because I know he goes all out for us and I have a feeling he might be game for it.. Fine, edited my post. The idea was that we not get into a pissing match among ourselves over rare guns that come in per Josh's idea, flat price per gun that comes thru and we could barter later, everyone gets a chance. But at the same time, I think it would be nice to not rip-off the clueless obliviots, call me honest, but I would feel like a real POS to buy a Colt AR for $50 when we know they are worth much more than that normally, let alone in these panic times. If we offer them a bit more for a rare/expensive piece they go home happy and WaGuns comes out looking good. This is a chance to US to show gun owners are good people. Then we could auction them here and help WAguns move forward. notice in my post I said purchase/tax/FFL? Meaning the dealer that wishes to step up could charge whatever processing fee they wish to process everything... Never said they had to do it for free..
And omg pardon me for throwing an idea out there to help the community and keep some guns from getting destroyed..

If we manage to come up with anything but junk it should somehow benefit Waguns since thats the banner were flying. AFTER all guns are exchanged for the day those that Provided buyback dollars or manned the post should have first shot at the goods. with other members next in line
Due to population size im just not sure how much or what if anything will show up, intel on past operations would help
Some type of sliding scale with a reasonable minimum should provide some incentive for those willing to let go

Pay like the Antis do. Say $20-200 and if someone pulls out grandpa's Luger from WWII be honest with them.
I'll pay $20 for old Jennings and the likes all day long until I run out of money lol.

if that's the case, as they go into a truck they should be tagged with price paid, or sort them into groups.
if you put $$ in, you probably want to stay til its sorted out at the end of the day.

Actually, this wouldn't be a WaGuns event... I think on this one, as an organized group, we should fly under the radar. That's not saying schwag shouldn't be worn, but the banner will not be there.

This is where I'd insert a "eating popcorn" smiley.
I'm not coming, but the followup should be interesting. I have read about other "gun turn-in events", and for some all they got were garbage. However some of the previous posters here indicate otherwise.
Good luck, Guys.

I'm thinking I want to go to this now, even from up here. it's like rolling dice on the craps table... If I get functional stuff for dirt cheap, at worst it's trading material and/or fixers/parts. and I get to hang out with some other Waguns peeps.

Banner or no i think an organized effort would put a better face on the effort.
A bunch of dreweling gun nuts getting into bidding wars and coming to fistacuffs on the spot will not be the best way for this to go down

Hey, some one should film it - prolly better fare than anything on network TV.

Press release from TCSO:
http://www.co.thurston.wa.us/sheriff/do ... -12-26.pdfTo let you all know, I have contacted Lt. Elwin via email with the following:
Lt. Elwin,
I was wondering if you could let me know what would happen to these surrendered firearms and ammunition after the event? Will they be destroyed? The reason I am writing is in fear of collectible pieces being destroyed because they are not aware of what they are, or what the actual value is.
A good example would be the recent Buy-Back in CT where an old lady attempted to turn-in a $40,000 rifle:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/12/1 ... 70815.htmlAlso, what would the Sheriff’s Dept. stance be if an individual(s) were to show up and offer people money or other items for their firearms?
Thank you for your time,
Dan xxxx

I would of said FFL dealers not individuals showing up but whatever works.

Start low.. See what the response is... Work up from there.... As soon as I say FFL to him, that brings in another facet, the BATFE. As individuals, the legality is there for us to proceed (not a lawyer...holiday inn...) as private sales are allowed in WA and this is also on Public Property and is now referenced (via the PDF file above) as a public event.

I don't care about collectible.
And what someone else would consider crap, I might not. I can fix pretty much anything.
I'd like to get one or two concealable 22 magnums. Hopefully not single action. And hopefully something with a magazine or a swing out cylinder. I am not concerned with looks. And as far as function, as long as it is fixable at all, I'd be happy.
All that being said, if I saw anything with a brass frame, in pretty much any caliber, I'd probably be all over it like stink on flies. Functional, or not.

I say give them $20. Lowball
If they are willing to give up guns for little to no money to LE for possible destruction, then $20 should be more than fair. Yeah, I don't like getting lowballer when I sell a gun, but people coming to this event aren't selling guns, they are giving them away. Now maybe $20 is a bit low, but $50 would be better. If something comes in worth $40,000, then ill let them know, but if a Gen 3 G19 comes in, I am not gonna tell them they could get $350 any day of the week, ill hand them $50 and be glad for the sale.
Collectors pieces such as the Luger, that would be different. The reason I am going is to get decent guns cheap, if I wanted to pay FMV I would buy them them here or a gun store.
