Hell ya,
Made a trip over Cayuse into Packwood. Skate crk just opened up this past Friday.
Lots of downed tree on fr's.
That's where we tried riding last weekend but the gate was still closed. Thought about going around it but looked like there was a bit of snow still on the road

I'll chime in on this thread. My current ride is a 1995 BMW R1100GS with about 33k miles on it. It's been my daily driver for two years and has been a joy to own and operate. So far it's taken me all over Washington State, out to Glacier National Park via Lolo Pass and points between, and back and forth to work every day. Next month I plan to do some camping and riding in the Cascades, the Gifford Pinchot and maybe a couple of legs of the Washington Backcountry Discovery Route. No real route set yet, but that makes for the best traveling.
Here it is set up for a week of travel:

Nice bike man. We tried running part of section 2 of the wabdr this weekend. White pass to 410 but hit way to much snow a little ways up. So we turned around and went over Cayuse pass instead.

My wife and I just finished a 13 day, 2500 mile two-up ride from Seattle to Jasper, Alberta and back. Took our time and saw lots of great scenery, met a few cool people, ate a bunch of good food, and celebrated my fortieth birthday. Good times!

Oooooh.......
I started looking at the adventure series 1200. Sat on it and played on it for a few but quickly realized just how hard it would be to drag out of a ditch that I'm sure I would wind up in, more like my nuts don't like resting next to my ankles after trying to right it after some offroad mishap.
Rode the 800 adventure around a bit and found it was wide and long. Took the 700 out and never made it out of the dealer lot before I made up my mind to buy that. Had looked at the singles for a bit but I was getting out of a thumper an needed at least a twin. Of course had to farkle the pig out with over priced bmw stuff and slowly getting there on aftermarket crap as well. Not quite sure on crash bars yet as the factory set leaves much uncovered an a bit weak if rubbing against a downed tree and all the aftermarket stuff looks, tacky. Time to buy some good round stock and dust off the notcher and bender.
At least it's a G Spot.

I ride Mac, a Percheron x TB gelding, does that count? He's pretty much an all-terrain horse.

Just put new chain, sprockets, and rear wheel bearings on my F650(barely duel sport). Also finished the install of my sidecar mounts on it too.

I never realized how big the dual sport world was until I got into it

As odd as it may seem, bigger than the recreational shooting world. Funny thing is you don't see many BMW dual sporters that do recreational shooting, carrying for protection yes, but loading up to spend the day in the woods shooting, not many.
Side note, I plan on doing the Alcan 5000 in a few years on mine. If I've got enough time and still have feeling in my ass, round trip. But may jump to the 800gsa for that.
Guy I "knew", tree top fell on him last year during elk hunting and ended his life, helped run that event. Only held every couple of years but it's a good hard run that's not for the weak.

Nice!
I traded my R6 racebike for a Kawi 250 a couple months ago, but I don't see putting in the effort to load everything up and drive to a place to ride it. Might be time to start looking for a KLR/etc for dualsport use.
