I heard this on the 'Mens Room' yesterday afternoon.... Insane..... One of their comments was 'Yeah - I want a lawyer that folded while taking the Bar exam to represent me.....'

Nice. The soft bigotry of low expectations Quote: Rooksby also has concerns that this pathway would be of particular interest to people with family connections in the legal field, which likely wouldn’t be contributing to the goal of diversifying the profession. That's exactly what's going to happen. Kids of lawyers and people with connections no longer need to pay for law school

Interviewing lawyers got a lot simpler I guess - "1st question, did you pass the bar exam, yes or no? " "Yes" and you move on to the next questions about relevant experience "No" and you're done with the interview process Pretty sure this isn't going to help with keeping the people who skipped the Bar Exam employed like they think it will.

So we want more people of color in law, so we lower the bar(Pun intended). So now in 6 months everyone is going to be crying that the poor arent getting good legal council by their lawyers.
It's kinda like the "lets give deadbeat tennants more legal right than landlords" Oh now there is a housing crisis, and nobody can find any affordable place to rent....

The bar honestly is a complete waste of time. That doesn't mean simply eliminating standards is a good thing; it's not. The bar should be replaced, but only when it can be replaced with something better.

Great, so now EVERY person that gets pulled over is suddenly a lawyer...

This is just another way to fuck up the court systems.
If charges are ever brought, and if they are ever prosecuted, how fast do you think court cases will move with pseudo-attorneys, that have no clue as to process, procedures, or decorum?
Between Covid & staffing, they’re already years behind.

Between Covid & staffing, they’re already years behind. You're not thinking the big picture. Black person hires black non-attorney to represent them. The non-attorney fails miserably. Person files a motion with court for retrial/mistrial due to defective counsel. Judge agrees and dismisses case due to 'equity concerns'. It's a 'get out of jail free card' for everyone they want to paint as victims.

Valid point, but I still think the point, in the end, is to stop prosecutions, before they start, for those they feel are under their control.
If you aren’t “in the club”, prosecution will move swiftly.

Well I’m sure there are many that stayed at a Holiday Inn Express a time or two, so there’s that…

Ah, lets fix a broken system by replacing gears from wish and temu....about the same energy. The bar has its issues, but this is dumb.
Next step, is that you cannot ask questions about the bar during employment.
