Just got a phone call from my little brother. My moms dad just got put into hospice care.

Crusty old nam vet. Never really talked about it. Distant relatives are already fighting over who gets what shit. It's fucking sad. The woman who gave birth to me is his only child. And it's sad that people are calling and telling her, "they deserve this" or they need that.

My brother flat threatened my great uncle that if he touched anything on the property that bones would be broken.

This shit is why I can't stand most of my family

On Friday, after 3 days of negotiations, I drove over 2 hours to meet a person for a dirt bike. I picked up a buddy in Bonney Lake and started to Puyallup, and that's when the seller cut off all communication between us. I waited for an hour and a half at the agreed upon location and he never showed.

Before we left my friend used his Facebook account and sent the seller a message asking if the dirt bike was still for sale, to which the seller replied back with yes.

I was FUCKING floored!!! Rarely do I get angry, but this bitch pushed me over the top. I grabbed my friends phone and messaged the guy back telling him it was actually me and that he needed to call me. He instantly blocked my friend.

Yes, I'm well aware that we should've set up another meet to trick the bitch but my anger got the best of me.

What makes this even worse is that A) I bought a helmet off of craigslist on my way down. B) the look on my kids faces when I returned home without a dirtbike. They were so excited. So instead I took it as an opportunity to teach my kids about keeping your word and following thru on your promises.

If you show up to a restaurant with 8 people at 10 minutes before closing, you're an asshole. If your order includes all three courses, with multiple modifications, you're an even bigger asshole. And if you then don't even fucking tip when you leave, you sir, are a colossal douche.

Lost a mean, sarcastic, asshole Vietnam vet last night. Francis "Frank" Freeman. The oldest of the Freeman children, the first of my irish side of my family to be born here in the states.

He was a pretty humble man though when it came down to it. Never liked asking for help, but would gladly jump in and help you.... And tell you the "correct way" to do something.

He only once really talked about the war to me. After my first deyployment over seas him and I had talk over it.

I miss the mean honery fucker. The only man I've ever known to get kicked out of sunday mass for cracking a beer in the middle of service(no I'm not kidding)

I've wondered about this.... if the sign says "Open", rarely will a customer look at the hours of operation.... Don't the hours of operation suggest that ORDERS will be taken and guests seated UNTIL the actual closing time? Or does it mean that the kitchen will be packed up by the last time listed? (which would mean that the cooking stops well before)

"OPEN" suggests that one is still inviting sales and that would entail staying until the hospitality offered was purchased and fulfilled.

The lack of tip... was there some perception that the patronage was un- or under appreciated because of the hour (which would detract from the "hospitality" and the quality of that experience?

Hell, a TEN top? That's good sales, isn't it?

I'm interested in this too. Captain90s or other restaurant professionals, what's your perspective?

Not restaurant related but I have seen signs that state: Store closes at 6pm - no gun sales after 5:30.

I worked in hospitality for quite a number of years, and have strong views on this from both sides of the ordering book... I was trying to be diplomatic with the Captain.

Went to Izumi restaurant and experienced a similar situation. The wait staff and cooks(? I don't know the attitude of the cooks, only the waitstaff with whom I interacted) were intent on jamming by the posted closing time.

NEON sign was lit when we asked to be seated. Drinks, appetizers and main course hit the table at the same time the vacuum cleaner hit the carpets around us!

Despite really liking their food, I haven't been back since.

Your business is HOSPITALITY. That means providing both food AND a nice experience. Chefs/cooks, kitchen staff, waitstaff etc...are all paid by the hour so it isn't as if they aren't being remunerated for their work...and the tip is gratitude for extra effort.

The ownership is paid by making a profit margin on those SALES, so denying the sales is a disservice to the one(s) who provide you with the opportunity to make your living applying your craft.
