So today I leave class, walk out of the school through the back entrance, light up a smoke, use my phone to summon a Lyft car, and sit down near the roadway, off the footpath in the grass. There's an official smoking area about 20-30 feet away, I'm technically outside of it, but I didn't see anything wrong, as I've been doing the same thing for the last couple weeks.
Not two minutes later, I hear above me in an exasperated female voice "The smoking section is over there" I look up from my phone and this woman is standing over me. Like, her feet are almost touching my leg, and she's standing RIGHT OVER me. "This is a smoke-free campus, and I don't need to be walking through your smoke. As an Instructor, I'm telling you--" By this point I'm already getting up. I'm in the wrong, outside of the smoking area, and I know it. She sounds like a bitch, but whatever. I take a step towards the smoking area. "NO" She thunders, getting even more of a nasal tone. "I'm telling you to put it out on the ground and take it into the smoking area!".
I just kind of blinked at her. "No" says I. "There's no point, I'm taking it into the smoking are--" She cuts me off this time "As an Instructor (she's saying this word like it gives her the power of god, or at least a cop), I am telling you to put it out ON THE GROUND" This last emphasis as I flick the still lit smoke over the short fence around the smoking area and head in after it "and take it into the smoking area" I mutter to myself "Oh fuck." as I leaned over to pick up the smoke. Bad idea. "DID YOU JUST USE PROFANITY TO ME!" She really got mad then. Out comes the cell phone. "What is your name?" She takes my fucking picture. I refused to give my name, she keeps demanding it over and over (with repeated "as an Instructor.."). I finally give her my fucking name just to get her to go the fuck away. She snaps her phone shut and straight up SWAGGERS away, like she just won some fucking grand prize.
I know not everyone likes cigarette smoke. I get it. And had she just asked me to move back inside the fence, I would have gladly complied. BUT FUCK YOU, BITCH, AND THE HIGH HORSE YOU RODE IN ON.
By the way, there's an ashtray right next to where I was sitting, even though it's "outside the smoking zone". You fucking cunt.
