Gas is bought on contracts. Price changes at the pump can lag behind market swings. (is what I've heard)

The elasticity of pricing is always my first suspicion.
Watch how fast prices jump after a factor arises, versus how slowly they fall after the factor wears away. Took the light rail down to Safeco, went to the Ms game, spent a couple hours down there after and just got home. Great weather, great game, good IPA's, and some damn good food.
