What made my day? That the friend I was teaching to shoot texted me today asking about good choices for a first gun.

Getting home from the hospital.

I've been there since late saturday night.

Blocked intestine.

Who knew being full of poop could kill you?

Yikes. Well, I'm glad you caught it and got it taken care of.

Sounds miserable, BTW....

Two guys who were deployed with 2/4 ID with us in Iraq died from that.
Serious shit (a pun!)
Glad you're okay.

Did they tell you/determine the cause so you don't have a repeat?

Yeah, it was a really crappy experience.

Y'all know that I passed, (Naturally. No pain meds, no hospital, no surgery. Nothing else.), that 10+mm spiked kidney stone, with no complaining... So I know, from pain.

This... was the worst pain I have ever felt. Excruciating doesn't begin to describe it. I really don't even want to think about what those two soldiers went through, Drew.

Cause... I had my appendix out over 30 years ago. They did a horrendous job of it. It left a HUGE ugly purple scar. Caused a couple of hernias. Etc.

Done by a fairly 'famous' doctor at the time, too. S. Ross Fox. He let a student do all the stitching up. Apparently with no supervision. He just came in, did all the cutting, very quickly and carelessly, and then walked out. Ergo, the problems.

Apparently they cut the small intestines while they were in there, and didn't sew those up any better than they did on the outside. It's the scar tissue from that, in my small intestines, that caused this obstruction. And other, minor obstructions, through the years in the past.

Sometimes I have wondered if I had a cancer in there, whenever a minor obstruction occurred and I didn't know what was going on. In a way, it is a blessing to finally understand what it is. There are ways of dealing with it, if it starts to happen again.

And certain dietary changes that I have made, should help. Unfortunately, I think I am off of peanuts, almonds, etc, forever. Creamy peanut butter is fine. But when you eat nuts, you never really get them as chewed up as they are, in peanut butter. The result is chunks of peanuts that are exact tiny replicas of the gravel in your driveway. THAT is what built up over the course of a week of eating a lot of nuts, and eventually clogged up the entire 'pipe', to cause the total obstruction.

Yeah, I know, more information than anyone wanted to know. :facepalm2:

I haven't even gone into the fact that the people in charge of the gate codes where I live, decided it was a smart thing to do, to disable the emergency services gate codes, without coordinating with 911 to make sure there was a replacement gate code. So I almost died, because the ambulance could not get through the gate, and there was NO way for them to get a code for it. That is a rant for the 'other' thread. LOL

I am alive, and I'm doing fine! It made my day, to get home after all that!

Did you get a weight of yourself before and after so you know how impressive your "obstruction" was?

ROFLOL!

This is getting too far into TMI territory now.

But the obstruction didn't have to be very big. It was the small intestines. And it was at a point where scar tissue 'bands' enough of the intestine, that the intestine wall couldn't stretch any larger. Creating a traffic jam.

In related news, and still related to making my day, you have to wonder what life has become when a movement becomes cause for celebration!

Ok, so the 'celebration' was smaller than I expected. But I think it was not much smaller than what caused the 'work-stoppage' originally. So this could easily signal the end of 'work-stoppage' for this particular 'company', for a while!

Now if I could just get rid of the painful growth in my throat, caused by the "nose-hose" that they stuck down my throat and into my stomach and left for about 6 years, on sunday, monday, and tuesday...

I'm guessing this is vague reference to your investment in time producing some item at work?
