Could this be the one that does it?

Federal Snipers Train Guns on Family For Filming Cattle – Federal Bureau of Land Management Confiscate Grazing Land To Protect “turtle”…. Generational Rancher Faces Feds !

“They said that we had no first amendment rights except for up by the bridge where they had established an area for that,” Bundy said.

We keep doing nothing and they keep stepping on us… rinse and repeat…. that is the definition of insanity. If someone pushes back they seem to back off, and look for a softer target. Now who does that sound like? A criminal.

We need to peacefully pressure these criminal overlords, and alphabet soup agencies, resistance is not futile.

Besides, everybody knows cows don't eat turtles!

so the short jist of it...

The Rancher since 1993 has been letting his cattle illegally graze on public land owned by the Bureau of Land Management, and has on multiple occasions threatened the feds and such with harm..

The fight involves a 600,000-acre area under BLM control called Gold Butte, near the Utah border. The vast and rugged land is the habitat of the protected desert tortoise, and the land has been off-limits for cattle since 1998. Five years before that, when grazing was legal, Bundy stopped paying federal fees for the right.

am i missing something? Why isnt he using his 150 acre ranch to let his cattle graze? or is his 150 acres part of the BLM area?

His claim is that his rights to use the land were in existence before the land became off limits. I can't find the article but it stated that his family has been using that land for cattle grazing since 1800 or something and that was long before the Feds decided it was off limits.

Basically his and the publics land rights supersede the turtles and the federal laws regarding land use.

As a side note, those turtles have a defense mechanism that if they are scared or startled they pee, which causes them to dehydrate and die. To me, that sounds like an evolutionary flaw. Some species just weren't meant to live forever.

150 acres is utterly miniscule in the desert west. I think ranching in that area requires around 300 acres/head for a healthy herd.

So he has been using it since the 1800's? kinda like the Indians claim and they get money from the feds to keep using it. Although they dont fish or hunt on the lands they claim anymore they just build casinos.
I support the cowboy. And I think a bunch of folks will and shooting will commence.

Grazing has always been allowed on fed..what used to be state property..until Clinton used his pen...land. It was the way of the west. It is useless land anyway. Why do other races have a right of ancestral land and whites dont?

Read another way.

"Government ready to shoot rancher and people filming the standoff over desert land because animals are grazing on it."

At what point does something become so absolutely ridiculous that you stop the cognitive dissonance of, "Buh buh but Its illegal!" And go, "Holy shit, what a clusterfuck. Why does the government care so much that they're willing to kill someone because some cattle are grazing on a piece of land in the desert. Oh and Turtles."

I challenge you to think outside of the box.

Feds have been steeling western lands from the states for a couple of Dem administrations now. Remember when Clinton went to AZ and proclaimed most of southern Utah as federal property? Much to the confusion of the state of Utah and the people who lived there.

Hot off the press
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service finalized Endangered Species Act protection today for four subspecies of Mazama pocket gophers and designated 1,607 acres of protected critical habitat in Washington’s Thurston County, including at the Olympia Airport. The decision was part of a landmark settlement with the Center for Biological Diversity requiring the agency to speed protection decisions for 757 species across the country. It also included a “special rule” exempting airport, agricultural and other activities from the prohibitions of the Endangered Species Act — a tactic Fish and Wildlife is increasingly using to avoid inconveniencing industries and landowners with endangered species on their land.
“With this decision the unique Mazama pocket gopher and its Puget prairie home have a fighting chance,” said Noah Greenwald, the Center’s endangered species director. “It’s deeply disappointing, though, to have activities that clearly destroy these pocket gophers’ homes — like plowing — categorically exempted so they can go on as usual. There is a way to balance the need to allow activities that benefit the gopher, such as mowing of airport fields, without exempting harmful activities from regulation. This decision fails to find that balance.”
There were once nine subspecies of Mazama pocket gopher, first identified as needing protection in 1985. Since then two subspecies, the Tacoma and Cathlamet pocket gophers, have been declared extinct. The four subspecies protected today include the Olympia, Roy Prairie, Tenino and Yelm pocket gophers, all of which are threatened by urban and agricultural sprawl that plows under their prairie habitats, as well as invasion of prairies by trees that thrive in the absence of regular fire. Three other subspecies were determined not to need protection.
