What is the difference between your three examples?

Buying a pallet of ammo
Buying a truck load of ammo
Buying a train load of ammo

Too bad all this still goes on, I just want a brick of .22 (500 or so) just for some trigger time with the 10/22. No, I am not paying more than $40-$45 for a brick of "Blasting Ammo"! Wanna charge me $80 for 500, then it better be Norma Super Match or something of that nature!

Something like that. I want really trying to use specific term, just differentiating between the typical store and the places doing a lot of ammo sales, especially online.
Think any local, average store. A pallet might be a lot, but doable. .. call it anywhere from 5k to around 100k rounds. Remember that's only 20 cases.

An online only place or a place having a storefront too, but not someone huge. Say lucky gunner or able ammo.

Then the places with massive budgets. The big chain stores.
Cabellas, Wal-Mart, cheaper than dirt I'm thinking.

If a place is paying in the mid $30s per brick are they "gouging" selling at $45 or even $50? How much is too much for a person or store to make? Ten? Fifteen? Five? We can agree that day a $30 markup is a bit much, and $100 totally an asshat move, but what is the limit?

Like everything else. If a thousand I people are willing to pay a hundred a brick then that's what it is worth. Like $50 and $75 t-shirts that have someone's logo or name on it.

exactly.. where is the outrage when people are "forced" to buy a 100$ jersey that costs 5$ to make in China. just because it has a seahawks logo...

that is pure price gouging when the same shirt cost 50$ a year ago.. suddenly it's more expensive because they made it to the Super Bowl...

people should have been on the streets protesting....

many people were being introduced to football, trying to get their children to enjoy the game and were denied the opportunity to wear their favorite jersey because it was priced so high....

it's not that different.. it's the same concept of making money...

and there were those profiteers hawking these shirts on the sidewalks asking 20$ for a piece of cloth they made for less than 5$.. that was pure gouging right there.. and I didn't see people calling them in to the cops or posting on the forums how these guys (unlicensed NFL) were stealing from the NFL and profiting off somebody else's back....

people here sometimes like to be righteous... that's all fine if you apply it to everything you do.. but you can't choose only what you want to be righteous about...

time is a commodity.. if somebody is making 30$ for investing an hour of his time commuting, meeting with somebody, posting the ad.. that's his right...

it's gouging if it's a life essential item in a disaster... .22lr hardly qualifies.. there are more important calibers..

Makes total sense and logic, honestly.
Guess we really need to stop bitching about the cost of fuel as driving is a privilege and by no means a right. taxes on booze as yet again it's not life requiring.....
It still is the gougers getting on here that pisses most off. We can't chastise Cheaper than Dirt for screwing someone over and the small amount of people that won't buy from them now doesn't mean shitty dick to them.
Some little local forum policing they're own does work. Protesting a large company/entity, really does no good unless it's a huge protest. This is why policing your own works with a small group.
Much like this topic, they are probably reading all this and thinking that they created a shit storm a few weeks ago selling high priced std ammo. And although they made 120% profit, just maybe they feel just a bit lower and may not sell for as much again.

actually the only thing that will stop them from doing it is if nobody here buys them... so those who are buying, raise your hand and we can chastise you for feeding the problem...

the people who are doing this simply do not care.. if you have time to line up at walmart at 3am, you don't have time to be a regular forum member..

on a serious note, if I didn't have .22lr, I'd be paying 50$ if I wanted to shoot.. supply and demand...

I paid double for some stuff last year because I wanted it then and didn't want to wait until stuff came back down... it was either that or put my life on hold waiting for prices to go back to where I want them...

kind of like refusing to drive and buy gas until it went back to 2$ a gallon.. just not going to happen.. 10$ a gallon and I'll still be driving.. just not as much...

I have 75,000 rounds of 22LR that I will sell for ONE MILLION DOLLARS.

I'm a big supporter of the free market so i have no problem with people trying to make a buck. But yeah, i think they are douche canoes for gouging other people in the community.

However, I'm also a big supporter of freedom of speech, and when someone is being a douche canoe I wish we could call them out. Yeah, maybe some people will get out of hand and question legit prices, but freedom of speech and the free market self corrects that too.

And a note, I've seen it here a few times. If you really need 22lr for a legit purpose and are considering paying nutso prices for it, just post here and ask. You may not get a response, but if you are in my neighborhood I'd sell you some at cost or maybe even donate to the cause. I'm sure I'm not the only one. Some of us have more than we really need and aren't douche canoes.

well said... just hopefully nobody tries that only to turn around and sell it... that would be the ultimate douche move...

as for freedom of speech, yeah, the forum has rules that limit that.. the 1st amendment applies to the federal govt, any private entity can limit what you say as a terms of agreement kind of thing...

it just helps keep the peace and minimize the drama... otherwise more good people are driven away by the ruckus that arguing leads to..
