I blame any link fail on being on mobile. Sue me.

So, using their logic, if I were to move out to the country, then if I can't afford to drill my own well...they have to do it FOR me? For FREE?

Great. What's next? Free access to oil, electricity, heat, food,....housing?

The government supplied a system of water supply that they paid for with people's money in taxes. It requires charges to keep it upgraded and maintained. You feel you're entitled to it because you live in that city. By that logic, NOBODY would have to pay! Nobody pays taxes and nothing gets fixed or upgraded. Anarchy. (LOL)

I could agree with this if there was a standard "fee" people had to pay to live in the city, which paid for all services. You couldn't just drop off a service if the fee was being paid to live there. Consequently, maybe if you can't pay the fee, living in that city isn't really meant for you...?

I saw this too, and wondered if it really is a human right. This is from their page... http://www.un.org/en/documents/udhr/. No where in the all 30 articles does it say that water is a right.

Its not a right because you can go get water yourself. They are paying for the service of having it delivered. Because they have become dependent on the water company, they have no idea how to fend for themselves if needed. Same goes for EBT cards and free bus passes.

You have a right to walk to a damn stream and drink from it. You don't have a right to force others to pay to bring the water to you. Pretty simple.

No you do not. You can not just take water from any old source. Water law is a thing.

Depends on what you're doing with it. You have a right to life. You need water to live. You must be allowed to get water to survive. In Arizona it is unlawful to refuse a person a glass of water. I don't care what the gov says, I have a right to drink out of a stream if I want to.

Do you seriously believe that the gov owns all the water that falls from the sky?

There are many places in the US where collecting rainwater without water rights/permits is illegal.

So yes, water IS a basic human right.

And those very laws are unconstitutional and void. Any law that violates right to life is no law.
