Not cool...

I just received a ticket from the City of Seattle on something I sold to someone on WaGuns.
Seems they didn't transfer the title into their name.
As with all my vehicle sales, I always do the online transfer with the state and make a print out. Looks like it paid off.
What pisses me off is, I have to scan my copies to send them to prove myself innocent! :angryfire:
Shit I shouldn't have to deal with.

That sucks......

Didn't this happen to someone else recently on here, too?

Hopefully it gets taken care of promptly for you.

Had this happen to me also. After jumping through several hoops to get it cleared up, I was informed that filing a report of sale online can be problematic and the best way is to send in the report of sale section of the title 'certified' snail mail.

WTF??????????
Are you telling me that Seattle, which is touted as being one of the most wired city/states in the union, wants us to use snail mail? Fuck them! Why did they spend all that money for the nice and easy to use web site? (seriously, I do like it)

I've got the cover letter written and the sales report & ticket scanned but now I just realized they want me to FAX it. :frust:
I don't have a fax machine!!!!!! Now I have to see if I can't find an email or website I can send this crap to.

I had it happen to me, I went and got a release of interest thinking that it was the same as turning in a BoS. Well I got a parking ticket from Seattle a month after I sold it. I had to get the guys address so I called him up acting like I had a bunch of parts that I'd ship up to him for free. Boom they sent him the ticket and got it off me and the collections agency.

Yeah, this just happened to Chasesdad when he sold me his VW. Thing was that the title had been transfered. The system that they use for issuing tickets lags way behind the states title system. I had the same thing go on with Good to Go. A motorcycle I sold crossed 520 the night I sold it. From that point on they would not recheck ownership until the account was paid in full. Which could not happen with their system since he went over the bridge every day.The lag always kept me on the hook.

Just the mayor swings that way. The King County executive swings that way too. Hmmm then there's the solicalist on the council, $15 an hour minimum wage, can things get more fucked up?

4 years ago when I applied for a mortgage to buy my first house I found out I owed $75k in child support. Funny thing considering I dont have any kids.

Some guy in Cali with my same name (30 years my elder) owed $75k in child support and due to our SS #'s being close they pinned the debt on me. I had to send a mountain of paperwork to Cali and contest their credit claim with all 3 agencies. 4 years later my credit score is finally back up over 800 again. (yes it left a permanent ding even though it was completely false)

Guilty until proven innocent. Assholes!

Oh and the icing on the cake is that Cali child support told me to keep the letter they sent clearing my name. Turns out every 5+ years their computer system may link me to this debt again if it isn't paid off by the debtor. I sent them a notarized letter informing them of my intent to sue for damages if it ever happens again.

It's a funny thing telling a mortgage broker you have excellent credit, only to hear them respond "ooh, well, we may be able to work with that."

It was a rough ride but so far (fingers crossed) there haven't been any further issues.

BTW if you're ever in Cali and meet a Michael Long who is in his early 60's with 2 kids named Tiffany and Travis, do me a favor and kick him in the nuts.

I sold a truck once. Couple years later I got a call from the impound yard. Long story short is I paid $300 to get it out and then sold it again.
