Comments:

I had a ton of fun doing this build. It has been a while since I had taken the time to do proper routing of cables and such. This thing is a speed freak, I am just starting to test out some overclocks. This board has 4 power connectors, so at no point should this thing be short on voltage. Two 8Pins, One 24 Pin, and a PCIE6 pin for the PCIE Bus.

The cooler is interesting, as it is powered off the internal USB bus. So I had to pick up a bus splitter, so I could use the front USB ports still. All in all, I think this HAF X case is one of the nicest I have played with in a long time. I have always been a silverstone fan, but the lighter steel makes it less of a chore to slug around. I was disappointed in the fact I had to add two fans. You would think they would include fans for all of the slots, but whatever.

With Windows 8.1 FINALLY actually supporting RAID SSDs, I am willing to take the plunge back into it. I will tell you these things are stuuuupid fast. Well over a gig for both random reads and writes. Backed up with my 4 drive 10K Raptor array? IOWait is no longer a thing.

I did steal my two 690s from my old PC, I will likely do dual Titan Zs later. Or something else along those lines, not only do they give me good gaming performance but they do handle CUDA "Okish" so they help with animation renders. They are fed by my trusty Silverstone ST-1500. 1500 Watts of 8 rails at 24A EACH. Each line gets its own rail, how nice is that?

Over budget, over built. The american way.

So what is the purpose of building a comp yourself?

I'm not a tech guy... Hell I didn't own an xbox till I joined the military.

usually cheaper per performance cost

ability to customize it the way you want

ability to upgrade (since most pre-built computers usually cant upgrade much)

Mostly, because that is how I get the best quality and exactly what I want. This rig would not be something that you could buy from any vendor.

Much like an AR-15.

This was just north of 1300, minus GPUs, monitors, PSU, and Mechanical HDDs. Depending on your GPU choice, you are looking at about 2 minimum. This one specifically? Closer to 3+, without monitors. 4+ With.
